Aaliyah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My first love was interior decorating, I had dreams of having a design studio with multiple showrooms as a kid. But as I graduated high school and transitioned into college, I started throwing house parties which led into a lucrative business doing pop-up shops and women empowerment events. I had always planned my personal events and birthday parties as a kid. We often had a color scheme with an itinerary for my friends and family but as I navigated college those parties got bigger. The themes got better and my creativity started to show. To this day, I am still learning and expanding my business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any other entrepreneur I have had to learn from my mistakes, step out on faith and navigate territories that I am unfamiliar with. I was raised by hard-working and dedicated parents who have businesses of their own all while raising me and my brothers so I knew I was destined to create a business of my own. Even though parties and celebrating have been consistent throughout my life, being able to turn that into a business wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, but as long as you continue to move forward, succeeding is the only option..
I’ve always been a leader from creating nonprofit community groups in high school to selling candy out of my book bag in between classes. I’m not afraid to go after the possibility of creating a name for myself in any avenue that comes my way.

Although we are branded as Events’ Paradise, we have slowly began transitioning into Affairs With Aaliyah. Events’ Paradise started as event planning, event designing. & a rental company. However, through the years the ceiling has risen and we do not just offer event planning and designing services. Now we offer a complete full service experience, where we are mastering graphic design. This skilled addition now opens up our online store where we sell custom one of a kind creations. Starting with, but not limited to business marketing tools. The front of your business, your vehicle, your flyers, your T-shirts. It’s a branding experience. It’s also creative gifts and party favors that can last for years to come. Custom chip bags, coloring books, snacks, and juices, there is no limit to the things that we can customize. And it always ties back into event planning because 90% of our events need graphics from the menus on the tables to the backdrops to the floor vinyl or even something simple as the invitation that goes out needs graphic design.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Atlanta is truly the place where people come to jumpstart their careers yet I was born here. I love that. I am only a few minutes away from the hustle that burns inside of me. Yet, far enough away from the drama.
I’m sure everyone that lives here can agree with me that the worst part is no doubt the traffic. What good is it to have the clientele if you can’t get to them lol you almost have to go up on the pricing so that you can accommodate for the madness that will occur.
