Community Highlights: Meet Aaron Fletcher of Georgia Center for ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Fletcher.

Aaron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a surgeon/entrepreneur from Washington, DC. I opened a practice my solo practice in 2016 and have grown it to a successful enterprise in that time that employs and serves the community. I started my journey in Atlanta in 1996, when I moved to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College. I received my calling into surgery in 1999 and started my pre-med training after that (my undergrad degree is in English). Before going to medical school, I had a brief stint as a ninth-grade biology teacher at Tri-Cities Highschool. I then moved to Philadelphia where I attended Temple University School of Medicine from there, I moved to Boston for one year of surgical internship, then to Iowa City, Iowa, where I completed two years of NIH research in molecular cancer biology and four years of residency in Otolaryngology–Head Surgery. After this, I spent a year at Univeristy of Michigan in Ann Arbor, refining my skills in a surgical fellowship focused on Anterior Skull Base Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery. After 12 years of medical training, I moved to Atlanta in 2014 to start practicing. I worked for a couple of medical groups from 2014-2015 before ultimately deciding to start my own practice in 2016. I’ve now been running a million dollar medial opearation (annually) as a solo medical entrepreneur to this date.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started my practice in the midst of tremendous personal turmoil (the death of my mother(2016), a divorce/custody battle, and severely underfunded). I’m a divorced single father of a now eight years old son (Aaron Jr.) and had to boot-strap my business after realizing the best way to control my career was to start my own practice. I went through many ups and downs (financial and personal) including going without regular salary for two years to get my business on solid financial footing and to position myself in the larger surgery market. I also made the decision to service two sets of clientele (Ear, Nose and Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery/Cosmetic) which increased the work of building my practice.
