Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Park
Hi Adriana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve worked in the restaurant industry since I was 16. I graduated college and left the industry, thought I’d never come back but the pandemic changed things. I hated my 9-5 and found a new job in April 2020 so I was quickly laid off since I was a newer employee working on a sustainability project. After that I knew I didn’t want to go back to a 9-5 so I started exploring options. I worked for a celebrity event planner and even helped renovate homes for rappers. It was a crazy experience. I tried every job I could find, hoping to find something I enjoyed. While trying to figure out my career, I got a job as a server to pay the bills. I ended up loving it and decided that one day I would want to own a restaurant. Then I got a job as a manager for a restaurant group and I managed multiple restaurants. It was tough but I learned so much and it helped me to get where I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. It has been a crazy ride but when I look back I realize that I had great learning experiences. During the last few years, I lost my close friend. my cousin, and my grandma pretty much all in the same time. That was hard to keep going but I learned over the years to manage my mental health and work through all the hardships life hands us. I learned life is not fair and that’s ok, just enjoy the moments that are good. Be present for the good times.
We’ve been impressed with Pastries A Go Go, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pastries A Go Go is a bakery and brunch restaurant. We are the oldest operating restaurant in Downtown Decatur. An important thing that sets us apart from others is that we are a scratch kitchen. All of our breads, sauces, and a majority of the food we serve is made from scratch. Our biscuits are the best biscuits you’ll ever try, and I can guarantee that. All of our food is cooked with love and good ingredients. Our head chef, Sandra, worked at Waffle House for 20 years and worked at PAGG for 19 years. No one in the world can cook better eggs than her.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people see our name and have no idea that we sell breakfast, lunch, and brunch. They think we are just a bakery.
