Hi Amber, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m 24 years old. I have always been into beauty, I actually attended cosmetology school while in high school. During that time, I started to love makeup especially perfecting my brows. After I graduated, I decided to start my own cosmetic line in 2016 while attending college and working as a beauty advisor at a retail store. My mom has a beauty training company (Beautiful Additions) where her educators also teach microblading. She suggested I take a class since I was into brows & she immediately found a studio for me to start taking clients in 2017. My focus shifted from selling cosmetics to microblading.
In 2020, I moved to a bigger studio and then the pandemic started… All small businesses were ordered to shut down, which was my only source of income. This is when I decided it was time to completely rebrand my cosmetic line and I started off with just lashes. I posted one video on TikTok and it went viral.
Fast forward to 2022, I opened a second location in Buford, Georgia doing permanent makeup, I ship orders daily from my cosmetic line and my products are sold in the beauty supply store.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! Running a business is very stressful but rewarding. As a business owner, you play every role. I pray… A LOT! The biggest challenge I have faced thus far has been dealing with the many regulations and laws that differ not only from state to state but from county to county. However, I am very grateful for how far I have come.
As you know, we’re big fans of Faces Beauty Studio/Faces Cosmetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Faces Beauty Studio offers permanent makeup services such as microblading, ombré brows amongst other services. These are all services that enhance beauty. I have many clients that have alopecia, cancer and other conditions that causes severe hair loss. To see their reaction after the service brings me great joy! Faces Cosmetics is a luxury cosmetic brand that offers brow products, lashes, and more. We are most known for our lash adhesive, which is our best-selling product! We recently partnered with Raw Essence Essentials and released all-natural bath and body products. What sets me apart from others is my personalized services and quality products.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes. I learned that it’s very important to be willing to pivot with your business. Also, you have to be determined to be willing to supply goods/services despite shortages, shipments and delays.
