Community Highlights: Meet Andrea Heard of A.N.H. Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Heard.

Andrea Heard

Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a teacher after serving as an orthodontic assistant where I would help my patients with their braces and their homework. I had a friend who worked at a school who said there were vacancies, and he thought I would be a good fit. I called every day to get an interview and finally landed one. I have loved being an educator ever since. I made it my point to be good at the craft. Now, after 15 years, I have taught primary, secondary, and post-secondary school and now own and operate my own education consulting firm – A.N.H. Consulting INC.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not! A.N.H. was founded after unexpectedly losing my favorite teaching position. As leadership changed, so did the people, and there was nothing I could do with the shift in culture of where the school was moving. As much as I hated the decisions that were made, it was clear that it was time for me to make a change. That loss was not a loss, it was a set up for me to teach collegiately and begin creating the framework for New Teacher and Instructional Leadership programming I now serve for A.N.H. Consulting INC.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about A.N.H. Consulting Inc.?
A.N.H. Consulting is an education consulting firm that provides educators to evolve in teaching and learning. We create personalized professional development workshops and coaching programs for Instructional Leaders and New Teachers. Because of our work, we develop high-quality new teachers to become the next high-quality leaders, making us the best New Teachers in support of retention in the Gulf South.

What sets us apart is our work with supporting schools in being coached. Coaching needs a culture to breed. Coaching needs a safe space and willingness to do the work of change. A.N.H. packs this secret sauce in every contract experience. Our safe space reputation is what we are most proud of brand-wise.

I want readers to know that this summer, we have whole group workshops on Classroom Management/Procedures and Curriculum Internalization coming up and yearlong New Teacher Packages available as well for school districts and charter movements alike. And if your school happens to need Academic Strategist Planning and support for your Instructional Leaders, we have that covered, too.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People think that I am a lot taller, and then we meet in person, and the 5-foot-inch frame is as far as this goes. Ha!
