Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Williams.
Hi Angel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a passion for helping others, and I found that physical therapy was the perfect intersection of my interests in science, health, and human connection. My journey began with a strong desire to understand how the body works, which led me to pursue a degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry. During my undergrad at South Carolina State University, I had the opportunity to shadow a physical therapist, as well as attend physical therapy with my grandfather. This is when I realized how much of an impact PTs can have on people’s lives—helping them regain mobility, reduce pain, and restore function.
After completing my undergraduate studies, I decided to pursue a Masters in Rehabilitation Sciences and then Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, from the Medical University of South Carolina. I wanted to have a deeper knowledge and be fully equipped to help people at the highest level of care. My DPT program was rigorous, but it was a transformative experience that solidified my commitment to this profession. Throughout my education, I had exposure to a wide variety of specialties, from orthopedics to neurological rehabilitation, and I found my passion for working with patients in a hands-on, one-on-one environment.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
After earning my DPT, I began working in an assisted living, skilled nursing home, home health, and occupational health settings where I gained a broad range of experience treating different populations. Over time, I developed a specialty in treating orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions by obtaining my Orthopedic Specialist Certification (OCS) and completing a fellowship in orthopedics and manual therapy (FAAOMPT). This allowed me to confidently work with various patients at different levels and obtain amazing patient outcomes. I also became more involved in patient education, helping people understand the importance of movement, injury prevention, and overall wellness.
Eventually, I decided to take my career a step further by focusing on continued education, attending seminars, and getting additional certifications in manual therapy and pain management. These skills helped me refine my approach to treating complex cases, and develop a reputation for being a compassionate, results-driven therapist.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Renascence Vitality-N-Movement LLC is a specialized, out patient orthopedic physical therapy clinic in Snellville, GA, owned by myself Dr. Angel Williams, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT. My business also focus’s on vestibular rehabilitation with tailored, attentive care for specific patient needs.
After sustaining a traumatic brain injury in 2017 and undergoing brain surgery in 2019, I have a deep, firsthand understanding of the challenges my vestibular and orthopedic patients face. This experience allows me to provide truly personalized and compassionate care.
What matters most to you? Why?
As a physical therapist and business owner, there are several things that matters most to me such as: prioritizing self care, providing quality care and patient retention, business and personal growth, continuous education to stay up to date with new treatment techniques, building strong relationships and reputation in the community, and last having work life balance.
The factors I mentioned are crucial because they directly influence both the success of my business and the well-being of my patients. Each one contributes to creating a sustainable, thriving practice that delivers positive outcomes and experiences for everyone involved.
