Community Highlights: Meet April Williams of Bubbla Decor

Today we’d like to introduce you to April Williams.

Hi April, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a native from the Bronx, NY that derives from Jamaican and West Indian heritage. I moved to Atlanta in 2007. While growing up in New York City, my mother would always send me too Jamaica for the summer to connect with family. I reconnected with my cousins on my father’s side of the family this one summer. While bonding and reconnecting with family, cousins close in age noticed that I would only drink this certain kind of soda. The soda has all natural ingredients, and I loved the way it bubbled. Family noticed the way I loved the drink and stated it “bubbles like her personality” and have been calling April “Bubbla” as a pet name ever since. Growing up, I loved to go into stores with my mother to buy household decorate items. So much so that when I became an adult family and friends would always ask for her help with finding unique affordable luxury items. Since every time they visited my home, they would see the keen eye and taste I have for luxurious items. While always helping friends and family as a passion hobby, I always wanted to open a home a decor store.

Before the pandemic, I started a career as an international flight attendant. While Covid-19 was affecting everyone globally. I was furloughed from my job as a flight attendant. While furloughed, I took my time and decided now is the time to start working on my very own home decor e-commence store. I expressed this to a close friend and she friend purchased me an LLC for Christmas. Since then, I have been finding local unique vendors in the USA and locally for my e-commerce store bubbladecor.com.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most of the struggles that I have been faced with is marketing issues on social media. It took me months to get verified on social media platforms because my items were getting flagged as ammunition and such. Which just was simply just not the case. I have candles, wine stoppers, placemats and other luxurious home decor items. So me getting flagged was frustrating. Plus I had very unsupportive people in my life at the time so it made for trying times. But, I never gave up and did not allow unfavorable circumstances to stop me from accomplishing my goals. It took me months of e-mailing certain social media platforms and they finally approved me.

Bubbla Decor is a luxurious home decor online boutique. Which focus primarily on selling and providing quality and unique items and accessories at affordable prices. I sell unique luxury home decor items such as crystal wine bottle stoppers, placemats, coasters, and marble paper towel holders, etc. amongst others. I handpick items from vendors locally and across the USA.

What’s next?
This year will be a big year for the brand. I will be looking at more vendors mostly located here in Atlanta. Which means more luxurious items to come and getting more exposure at events such as expos and festivals. I am really looking forward to excelling my goals this year with the company.
