Community Highlights: Meet Beverly Palmer of Cal’s Kitchen ATL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beverly Palmer.

Hi Beverly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was challenged with an incurable autoimmune disorder which caused me to have to have a plethora of medical care, hospitalizations and infusions. Due to my illness I missed a lot of work and had to isolate myself from others for 5 long years. I was forced out of my job in corporate America which really devastated me and forced me to take a hard look at my life and determine if I would let this disease control the destiny of my life and future or if I was going to make lemonade out of my lemons.

I always had a passion for cooking and was very good at it, I decided to go t culinary school to perfect my craft and get my degree in Culinary Arts which from there birthed my catering business Cal’s Kitchen ATL which is a family owned business. It started out small with meal prep orders, pop-ups and blossomed from there.. We are now known all over Atlanta and beyond! Word of mouth, great food and customer relations have been our reason for success. we currently have shifted to Film Production and Corporate Clients in addition to our database of returning clients, weddings, parties and church functions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of the struggles were gaining clients and taking jobs that were below the standard market price just to gain clients and build our brand and lots of networking.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That it takes a great deal of time, effort and a lot of work, it’s important to build relationships with clients and more importantly never underestimate your worth!
