Today we’d like to introduce you to Bibiana Patrick.
Hi Bibiana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my beauty business in 2018, but the foundation for my journey began long before that—back when I was fresh out of hair school in Fargo, North Dakota, with a brand-new license and a big dream. Even then, one of my biggest goals was to work in TV and film. I didn’t know how I’d get there, but I knew I would.
I started my career behind the chair in Fargo, learning the basics, building relationships, and sharpening my skills. After some time, I felt a pull for something bigger, so I moved to Minneapolis. Those years were crucial—Minneapolis showed me more of the industry, but it also made something clear: if I wanted to grow into the artist I envisioned, I needed to plant myself in a major beauty and entertainment hub.
The first time I visited Atlanta, I knew instantly. Something about the city felt like alignment. It felt like home. So I took the leap.
When I got to Atlanta, I hustled—really hustled. I offered hair and makeup services anytime I could. Odd hours, long days, late nights… whatever it took to build my name, deliver for my clients, and show up with excellence. I went above and beyond for every person who sat in my chair, and that dedication opened the door to my first major opportunities.
One of those early blessings was building relationships with NFL Sports and NBC Sports. Those experiences catapulted me into larger spaces I once only dreamed of. As my TV and film career grew, so did the demand, to the point where I couldn’t personally take every wedding or beauty booking that came in. That moment forced me to think bigger—beyond the mindset of a solo artist.
I realized I didn’t just want to grow; I wanted the people around me to grow too. I started bringing in trusted business friends, sharing opportunities, and creating a network where we could learn from one another and rise together. That shift changed everything. It allowed my business to expand and also allowed me to step into a new version of leadership, collaboration, and creative direction.
Atlanta taught me far more than I ever expected—not just about the beauty industry, but about resilience, community, and believing in yourself even when the blueprint doesn’t exist yet. This city shaped me, challenged me, and helped me transform my dream from a young stylist in North Dakota into the career I’m living today.
My journey is a reminder to anyone in the beauty industry:
Your starting point does not limit your finish line. Your dedication, your heart, and your willingness to take leaps will take you places your fear never could.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve made it look smooth but some of the challenges I faced in the beginning was lacking certain skills and talent for the business I wanted to achieve. So I had to put in some time in areas that most would have felt was a waste of time, or would have rather just learned along the way. Instead of focusing how I thought I needed to. For example I knew I needed to become a strong finisher when styling hair for events and I needed to be aware of so many more special occasion styles and updos. So I worked two days out the week at a blowout bar starting at 7am until I had to go to my other salon job. This was kind of brutal but I found a way to embrace it and it eventually paid off.
Also making sure my equipment was always complete for each gig. Keeping up with makeup and building a kit gets pretty expensive especially now a days. Another challenge I faced was the competition in Atlanta can be very intimidating. So I had to find my own sound and dance to that without getting discouraged. Also marketing myself was a hurdle at first and I had to really learn more about running a business in order to really get my situation to a stable and long journey.
We’ve been impressed with Lights Camera Beauty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Lights Camera Beauty is an Atlanta based beauty business. We provide top tier, camera ready beauty services. We specialize in behind the chair salon services ( hence most of my team members work or have worked in a salon) So I usually book for the salons everyone works at. We can provide hair color services, haircuts, hair extentions (sew in weave, tape ins, clip ins, K-tips). Also provide special occasion hair styles and makeup applications. We also provide all these services mobile depending on consultation. I think what sets me and the business apart from the rest. I am all about professionalism and GREAT customer service skills. I can always tell I leave a lasting memory with guest’s because of how personable my team and I are. I take pride in truly satisfying guests and seeing how much joy it brings. It becomes more than hair and makeup. I want readers to know that although the market is saturated with so many hair and makeup artist in Atlanta, there’s a lane of opportunity for everyone. My business is one of those that caters to just about anyone. I made sure of that and to have a mixed diversity of artists so we are able to service everyone.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love about Atlanta is how big it is, there’s so many different pockets of people, places and things to do. You can literally pick where you want to belong. You can recreate yourself and move to the other part of the city/state and it will feel different. I also like how very well connected Atlanta is to other parts of the world. So many people from all over come here to live or visit, that’s pretty cool. We have access to just about everything. What I like the least here is the traffic lol, but once you know your way around time it’s not too bad.
