Bradley Saxe

Hi Bradley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From my earliest memories, the world of the restaurant and food industry has been an integral part of my life. My journey began when my family relocated from South Africa to Atlanta. It was here that my father, alongside his business partner, ventured into the culinary realm with the acquisition of a quaint bagel shop.

This establishment, modest in its beginnings, became the cornerstone of my education in the industry. Post-school hours and during academic breaks, I immersed myself in the operations of our restaurants. This was more than a mere pastime; it was a hands-on learning experience where I discovered the invaluable lesson that diligence and dedication inevitably lead to success.

As I navigated through my high school years, my aspirations crystallized. I decided to pursue a business-centric education and was fortunate to secure a place at Babson College in Boston, Massachusetts. Babson, renowned for its singular focus on Business Administration, became the crucible where my understanding of business principles was honed. The college experience, enriched by academic rigor and invaluable networks, was instrumental in catapulting me into the professional business world.

Upon returning to Atlanta, my focus shifted to the food production facet of our ventures. In 2017, this evolving vision culminated in the establishment of Mainline Foods, a food manufacturing plant. At Mainline Foods, we pride ourselves on executing large-scale production runs, utilizing state-of-the-art automated equipment. We transformed an empty shell into a leading facility, now at the forefront of providing top-tier services to the aviation and grocery sectors.

Throughout its growth, the Goldbergs Group, under which Mainline Foods operates, has remained steadfastly committed to quality and service. We have strategically integrated verticals to maintain and elevate our core objectives.

Our most recent addition to the portfolio is Mainline Aviation. Mainline Aviation focuses on catering airplanes. The complex operations of Mainline Aviation and entering this new market taught all of us a lot about an industry not many know about. This division produces, packs, and delivers food, beverages, and supplies to the largest airline planes in the United States.

In my current role as CEO of Mainline Foods and co-CEO of the Goldbergs Group, I oversee a diverse portfolio that encompasses restaurants, manufacturing, airline catering, construction, and laboratory services. Each day presents new opportunities to innovate and excel, driving our company toward greater heights.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Indeed, the axiom holds that the path to success is seldom smooth. Our journey, marked by ambition and vision, has been a testament to this reality.

From the outset, the challenge was apparent. We began as a modest take-out restaurant, a small venture in a vast, competitive landscape. The early days were a foray into the unknown, each step a learning experience. As we grew, so did the complexities of our business. Scaling from a single establishment to a multifaceted corporation brought with it a myriad of growing pains.

One significant challenge was maintaining the quality and integrity of our offerings as we expanded. With each new branch, production facility, or business segment, the task of ensuring consistency and excellence became increasingly demanding. The delicate balance between expansion and quality control was a tightrope walk, demanding unwavering attention and meticulous planning.

Financial management, too, presented its hurdles. The transition from a small operation to a larger entity required astute financial strategy and risk management. There were moments of uncertainty, where each decision carried weighty consequences for our future.

Human resource management evolved as a critical aspect as well. Cultivating a team that shared our vision and dedication was paramount. As we diversified, so did the need for specialized skills and leadership qualities within our team. This shift necessitated not only finding the right talent but also investing in their development and fostering a culture that aligned with our core values.

Navigating market fluctuations and changing consumer preferences has been another ongoing challenge. In an industry as dynamic as food and hospitality, staying ahead of trends while remaining true to our roots has been a delicate dance.

Yet, through each obstacle, we’ve grown stronger. These challenges have been invaluable in teaching us resilience, adaptability, and the importance of visionary leadership. They have shaped our decision-making, honed our business acumen, and solidified our commitment to our core values.

Today, as I reflect on this journey, I see each struggle not as a setback but as a stepping stone to where we are now – a diverse corporation standing strong in its mission and values. The road may not have been smooth, but it has been incredibly rewarding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our business, the Goldbergs Group, is a multifaceted organization that has grown from a humble bagel shop into a diverse corporation encompassing restaurants, airline catering, manufacturing, construction, and laboratory services. We specialize in delivering high-quality food and services, with a strong emphasis on culinary excellence and innovation.

What I’m most proud of is our brand’s reputation for consistency and excellence. Over the years, we’ve nurtured this brand with careful attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to our core values.

For your readers, I want them to know that Goldbergs Group is more than just a business. It’s a story of growth, a testament to the power of quality service, and a brand that consistently strives to exceed expectations. Whether you’re dining in one of our restaurants, enjoying our products at 30,000 feet, eating products manufactured in our facilities, or experiencing our construction and laboratory services, you’re engaging with a brand that puts excellence and customer satisfaction at the forefront.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor and effective networking is pivotal in any professional journey. My advice is to be proactive and genuine in your approach.

Attend industry events, join relevant associations or online groups, and don’t hesitate to reach out to individuals whose career paths inspire you. When seeking a mentor, look for someone whose values align with yours and who has experience in areas where you seek growth. Remember, mentorship is a two-way street; be clear about what you can bring to the table as well.

I am fortunate enough to have my father as my mentor. We have been in lockstep since the very beginning and continue to use each other as a resource as we grow the business.
