Cameron Truitt

Hi Cameron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I train any dog breeds but I breed cane corsos and South African Boerboels and Belgian malinois. I’m 38 years old as of January 8th. My dad has owned and operated a kennels training and breeding dogs for over 40 years so dogs are a natural part of my life. I grew up in the streets and around dubs and horses. I ended up in the Department of Family and Children Services at 11 years old and bounced from group homes and juvenile facilities til I was 18.

At 19 years old, some dude tried to rob me and my pregnant girlfriend, and I ended up shooting him, and he died. They gave me 15 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter, and I did the entire 15 years. I went in on July 19, 2006, and came home on July 18, 2021. Since I’ve been home, I’ve started my own business, Diamondcut Lawncare, landscaping, and k9 training services, brought home with my wife, who I’ve known since I was 15, and been pretty successful.

I was shot in my stomach and leg last year while working security at a family member’s club also and survived, so I know I’m here for a purpose. I also travel to elementary, middle and high schools doing mentorship programs for the young men.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I went through physical abuse by my family, went through group homes and shelters, and spent years in juveniles and prisons and have been shot and stabbed, but I’m still alive and striving.

As you know, we’re big fans of Diamondcut Lawncare, Landscaping, and K9 Training Service. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand?
I’m known as the big dog man. I do not train any dogs but breed cane corsos and South African Boerboels. I also do lawn care and landscaping, and what sets me apart from other dog men is that 1) I don’t just breed, but I train as well and am very good. 2) I cut yards and train dogs at the same time.

I’ve never seen anyone do that. I have some of the country’s biggest, prettiest, and most well-trained dogs. That’s what sets my brand apart from others. I do basic obedience, advanced obedience, environmental and socialization training; I do protection training levels 1-3 also.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Great work ethic, punctuality, great socialization skills, and you must be dedicated, determined, and very disciplined when working in this dog field.
