Community Highlights: Meet Dani Simone of The Mystic Model

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Simone.

Hi Dani, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up Southern Baptist and by the time I got to my senior year of college at Georgia State University, I began questioning my belief system partially due to an English Literature class in which we read the Bible solely from a literary perspective. I eventually realized that I only subscribed to Christianity because it was all that I knew. One day, I was in prayer at home asking God to reveal himself to me in a way that I could feel more authentically connected. Later that night, I was searching the internet for spiritual guidance and came across an ad for Reiki in EAV. I booked a session for later that week and had a mind-blowing experience. The reiki practitioner told me things about myself that he couldn’t have possibly known suggesting that he was psychic. He recommended a book to me, “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay, and I quickly downloaded a free copy of it. This was the first time I was introduced to affirmations and guided meditations that were useful for me shifting my mindset and accessing more of my potential.

After learning that Louise Hay was a metaphysical lecturer and teacher, I began searching for spaces that would allow me to learn more. I came across a metaphysical store located in the metro-Atlanta area called Phoenix and Dragon. The next day, I drove there and when I walked into the building I instantly felt a wave of peace wash over me. I was mesmerized by all of the different products ranging from crystals, smudge sticks, candles, books, and so much more. I found myself drawn to the section of the store containing Tarot and Oracle cards. After looking through the selection, I chose the Mythical Goddess Tarot. When I got home to use the cards, I referenced the guidebook for a spread and interpretation of the cards. The insights were eerily accurate for what I was navigating in my life. For the next few years, I pulled Tarot cards every day, learning the meanings of the cards and also allowing my intuitive voice to grow. I had no intentions of ever reading for others because I used Tarot as a tool for self-discovery and healing.

One day, I was hanging out with a friend who also read Tarot and she suggested we post up in L5P to offer Tarot readings to the public. I was nervous but I felt comforted by having a friend with me so I decided to go through with it. We offered readings to strangers for $5 and I had a chance to share the gift of Tarot with others. I was surprised by the positive feedback that I received which was the motivating force behind me starting a spiritual-based business as The Mystic Model that same year. I’ve been professionally reading Tarot for almost 10 years now working with hundreds of clients, collaborating with XoNecole, and building my own spiritual community of fellow mystics. It’s been a beautiful, life-changing journey and I’m grateful to be in a position to help others connect with this practice of self-discovery and divination.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle has been paving a path for myself that feels more authentic to me which also resulted in me losing relationships with people that I no longer shared the same belief system with. Unfortunately, I had some close friends in my life that could not accept who I was outside of the Christian faith and the rejection really hurt at the time. But now I see it as divine protection. I’ve been able to connect with people who share similar beliefs and even some that don’t but they don’t operate from a space of judgement.

Even in the beginning of my Tarot journey, my parents raised their eyebrows but they never turned their back on me. If anything, they just thought I was a little weird but they’ve grown to support me over time. My dad has even promoted my services to his co-workers and my mom is one of my biggest fans on social media. I pride myself on being a woman who is self-possessed. Long gone are the people-pleasing tendencies of trying to fit in with the status quo. Now I embrace my weirdness and it’s just a bonus that other people do, too.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Mystic Model?
I have been in business as The Mystic Model since 2017 as a spiritual practitioner. I specialize in Tarot readings, Astrology readings, Spellwork, and 1:1 Spiritual Coaching. I’m most proud of the educational opportunities that I offer to people that are unfamiliar with, but interested in, learning about divination and spells. I’ve also created a private spiritual community known as The Mystic Mamas where I teach different aspects of my craft.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I’m a Gwinnett County baby and a Georgia State University alumni that has experienced the best of both worlds. I’ve grown to appreciate the slower pace of the burbs but I also love how electric the city feels. The traffic is terrible no matter where you are in metro-Atlanta but it’s to be expected with how the population continues to grow. I’ve lived in a few other states throughout my life but nothing beats Georgia. She’s definitely always on my mind wherever I go.
