Community Highlights: Meet David Krieger of Krieger Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Krieger.

David Krieger

David, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion for music began when I was young but my career started over 15 years ago as a radio DJ and MTV VJ in Philadelphia. After graduating from college, I moved to Los Angeles trying to find the balance between practicality and passion and found a happy medium in broadcasting. In 2012, I realized that I could create a career out of something I loved doing and decided to make the jump to DJing full-time. After working for other companies for four years, I started Krieger Entertainment and have been DJing luxury weddings and corporate events ever since. In 2021, I decided to expand my business to be bicoastal and established a new home base in Atlanta.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a creative person, running a business is not a strong suit of mine so learning how to be an effective business owner was and continues to be a challenge. Thanks to some great resources like coaches, conferences, and the occasional audiobook, I am much better at it now than I used to be. Once I developed established systems and hired some great assistants, the process became much easier. I am now able to actually enjoy the things that I chose to do for a living, which was always the goal.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Through Krieger Entertainment, I offer customized DJ services for weddings and corporate events. My unique experience over the last 15 years has allowed me to develop the intuition and ability to read a room and ensure that the music flows seamlessly throughout the night. I was named Best DJ in Los Angeles in 2018, 2019, and 2020 by California Wedding Day Magazine and recently won an Allie Award for Best Entertainment. I also serve on the Board of Directors for Wedding International Professionals Association and have won the WIPA DJ of Excellence Award twice.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When I was looking for a mentor, I decided to reach out to the most successful people I knew and ask them who their coaches were. The people who you look up to that own their own businesses and appear to be thriving and flourishing have most likely had some type of professional coaching or corporate training at a high level. There are a lot of people out there that claim to be coaches and charge a low price, but don’t actually know what they are doing. It is important to be ready to invest both time and money to get the most out of your coaching. Similarly, when networking, what you put into it is what you get out of it. Attending networking events can be awkward and intimidating but once you get past that, you will notice a huge difference in the connections you make. Put yourself out there, introduce yourself, and don’t stop doing that until you find your people.
