Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Vatsala Jajoo of V Smile Family Dental

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Vatsala Jajoo.

Hi Dr. Vatsala, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey to Roswell, GA has been shaped by opportunity, perseverance, and a deep commitment to service- values that have guided every major decision I’ve made. I was born and raised in India, where I also attended the dental school before moving to the U.S. Here, I further got trained at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine, where I was one of only 28 students selected globally to their Program for Advanced Standing Students (PASS).

After earning my DMD degree from Penn, I headed to Illinois, where I owned and managed two high-volume DSO practices for almost 10 years. Those years were not only integral to building my clinical excellence but also a foray into the business side of the dentistry about operating a successful practice. I learned what it takes to build a patient base, manage a team, navigate the complexities of running a dental office, and most importantly, earn the trust of a community. While I valued that fast-paced environment, I eventually felt a calling to provide more personalized, wellness-focused care. And in 2022, my family and I decided to move and call Johns Creek, GA our home. Soon, I took over a private practice in Roswell ​​with a clear vision: to create a patient-centered environment where people feel valued, heard, and cared for.

Beyond my practice, I have always believed in serving and giving back to our country, and I am proud to serve as a Captain in the US Army Reserves (ARMEDCOM). This commitment has kept me disciplined, focused, and connected to something larger than myself.

I am also an active member of Roswell Rotary Club, and cherish every moment of working alongside other community leaders who share a passion for giving back to the community in meaningful ways.

When I am not at the chair or serving in the Army, I enjoy going on hikes, trying out new cuisines and reading, and rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs with my husband, our 2 kids, and our adorable Aussiedoodle.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It certainly hasn’t been a linear path but looking back, each challenge shaped me into the dentist, business owner, and the person I am today. Moving to a new country was my first major hurdle in adapting and assimilating with the new environment. But perhaps the most demanding challenge was being a mother while pursuing dentistry at Penn. Enrolling in the dental program at UPenn was a dream, but it came with balancing the intense academic demands of an Ivy League curriculum, and the emotional and physical demands of raising a child. However, that experience taught me a level of discipline and perseverance I did not think I possessed.

The next big challenge was the move to Georgia and restart our lives altogether after over a decade of being established in Illinois. New market, new community, new patient base. Rebuilding it all was a significant undertaking with more responsibilities and higher stakes. But it taught me that growth often requires courage to leave your comfort zone. I also learned to redefine success. It’s not about being perfect-it’s about showing up, doing your best, adapting when things don’t go as planned, and extending yourself grace when you fall short. It’s about building systems and teams that support you. It’s about knowing when to push through and when to ask for help.

Today, when I face challenges in my practice or encounter young mothers considering dental school or entrepreneurship, I share my story honestly. The struggles were real. But so was the growth, the achievement, and the profound satisfaction of building a life and career on my own terms.

I am the Owner and the practicing Dentist at V Smile Family Dental in Roswell, GA. I took over the practice in 2022 when the previous owner retired. We specialize in comprehensive wellness and cosmetic dentistry for whole family including dental implants, Invisalign, Smile makeovers, TMJ and jaw pain problems, and Sedation dentistry.. We aren’t a high-volume corporate office; we are a private practice where I know your name, your family, and your history. This dental practice has been in existence for over 40 years with multiple generations of families entrusting us for their dental care. Our office’ philosophy is providing quality dental care with the patient’s best interests in mind, building lasting relationships with families and being a trusted partner in their overall health journey.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I firmly believe that no one reaches success alone, and the credit for my journey belongs to the incredible support system around me. First and foremost, I am grateful to God for providing the strength and the tools to persevere through every challenge.
My husband has been a constant pillar of support, but his encouragement is bolstered by my entire extended family. My parents and in-laws have stepped in during every major undertaking, providing the foundation I needed to grow. I also owe so much to the friends and acquaintances who appeared at exactly the right moments, going out of their way to help me navigate the toughest seasons of my career. My team at V Smile Family Dental deserves tremendous credit. A dental practice is only as good as the people who run it daily. The local community has embraced me in ways I never expected. I was the newcomer, the outsider. But they gave me a chance, referred their friends and family, and have trusted me for their dental health care.
Finally, my greatest source of inspiration are my two children; their unconditional love and patience reminds me every day why I work so hard to provide the best care possible to my patients and​​transform not just smiles, but confidence and overall health. They are my “why”.
