Hi Earnest, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Earnest Jackson, and I am the founder of True Vine Services LLC. My wife and I started the company with a vision of building something meaningful and something that could one day be passed down to our children. For us, this business is about more than making a living; it’s about creating, innovating, and helping other families enhance and enjoy their homes.
Residential exterior lighting felt like the perfect fit because it blends creativity with practicality. I’ve always loved how lighting can completely transform an outdoor space. The right lighting creates warmth, ambiance, and an inviting atmosphere that makes family gatherings and everyday moments even more special. For us, it’s not just about installing lights, it’s about helping people make their homes shine, both inside and out.
Our journey into this industry started during a challenging season. Back in 2019, my wife and I were operating a business selling air purification systems and working directly with families in their homes. When the pandemic hit, that business model was no longer sustainable, so we had to pivot and find a new way to support our family. That challenge ultimately led to the creation of True Vine Services. We saw an opportunity to offer something unique while using our creativity and passion to build something lasting.
Today, True Vine Services focuses on designing and installing beautiful, functional exterior lighting for residential homes. What sets us apart is that we don’t simply install lights, we focus on transforming spaces. Lighting can bring warmth, enhance safety, and create an inviting atmosphere for outdoor areas where families and friends gather.
We also place a strong emphasis on exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and personalized designs. We believe every home has its own personality, and our goal is to create lighting solutions that highlight and enhance that uniqueness. Every project is an opportunity for us to help homeowners see their space in a whole new light.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
During 2022, our business experienced a slower season as demand for exterior lighting temporarily declined. Rather than viewing that period as a setback, we saw it as an opportunity to innovate and strengthen our business. We focused on finding creative ways to stay competitive by improving our services and expanding how we marketed the company.
One of our top priorities was continuing to build strong relationships with our clients, because word-of-mouth referrals have always been a major driver of our growth. At the same time, we began exploring new service offerings that aligned with our expertise and the needs of our customers.
As a result, we expanded into Gutter Guard installations and accent wall designs. These additions not only helped us diversify our revenue during slower seasons, but also allowed us to provide even more value to our clients. That experience reinforced an important lesson for us: challenges often create the best opportunities to grow, adapt, and strengthen your business.
