Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Garnett.
Hi Eddie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Mid 2020 is when I made up my mind I was ready to become my own boss. At that particular time the box truck industry was trending. After doing my research it didn’t take long before I decided that I want to join the trucking industry. Growing up as a fatherless child in poverty down in Wrens, GA. I wasn’t taught how to get ahead I was taught how to survive. Growing up, I didn’t realize at the time that the survival skills would be the force that gets me ahead in life. I proudly say I want to change a thing about my past because I doubt if I would be the strong Black man I am today. Being raised on my mother side of the family, I didn’t get the opportunity to be around my family members on my dad side. Surprisingly me and my first cousin on my dad side got really close and of course, we were having talks about the trucking industry. Shortly afterwards, I had a business partner who was just as determined and hungry as myself. Me and my business partner Phillip Garnett went straight to the drawing board and made plans to have our trucking company off the grounds by January 2021 and we did just that. Being that we both had the same last name and our last names was attached to mostly drugs and violence, we knew right then that our business name had to have our last name in the title because it was our duty to clean up our name and put a new respect on the Garnetts.
After going over several names, we named the trucking company GARNETTS BIG BOX TRUCKING LLC. Shortly after, we went through our process and purchased our First Truck and of course, we had to give the truck a name. We named the truck after our Grandma Betty Anne. Although she is not here, we knew it would make her smile down on us. Phillip and I knew early on that the business was bigger than me and him and it was our duty to build something for generations to come. We have been in business barely one year but we have grew to three Trucks, Dispatching Company, and several other services that are used in the trucking industry everyday. Phillip has five kids(1 Daughter & 4 Boys). I have one daughter. I must highlight that our business wouldn’t be flourishing without Phillips wife Amy Garnett and my Fiancé Jasmine Fedrick. These two ladies have put countless hours into adding value to the brand and also adding additional services to the company. I tell Phillip all the time we are lucky guys to have such a strong support system from our spouses. Although we are a small business, we make it our mission to give back and support the community in every way that we can. What you may think is your weakness or disadvantage today can be your power structure tomorrow so don’t count yourself out just because you are less fortunate!!!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely been a struggle throughout the process financially and mentally. Leaving a job to start your own business definitely takes you out of your comfort zone. Me and Phillip left our jobs with the expectations of having our first unit rolling asap. However the day the unit arrived, there were minor problems that had to be fixed initially. Those minors problem set us back almost a month. In the trucking industry a month worth of losses can be up to 20k. Other struggles were learning the business and learning us as business partners. We still run into some struggles but the reality is it’s a part of the business. I thank God for giving me my cousin but more like brother to encounter this journey

Garnetts Big Box Trucking is a Trucking Company that specializes in transporting General Freight long Haul and Short Haul from East Coast to West Coast. We are a home bread built from scratch company that is run by two cousins who are more like brothers Eddie Garnett & Phillip Garnett. The overall goal is to build a successful company to be able to pass down to our kids and their kids. Also, we have a mission to employ Family members and those who struggle to get employed in corporate America. We are known for being very professional and being on time which is a big deal in the trucking industry. In the trucking industry, what sets us apart is our company is not just about delivering freight and making revenue. It’s actually about pushing the culture forward and giving a hand up to the less fortunate. We are most proud of the growth and exposure we have gotten in just one year going from 1 truck to 3 trucks and adding several services. We offer several services. (Dispatching, Dispatching Course, Trucking Consulting, Notary, and Website Design). Lastly, I will like to highlight the blessing that Amazon in Appling Ga has been to our business. Due to their work load we have been blessed to deliver freight seven days a week from Amazon to Post Offices across Georgia and Carolina.
