Today we’d like to introduce you to Eliza Kent.
Hi Eliza, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I spent my formative years in the bustling city of Seoul, South Korea. My dad’s military assignment brought him there, where he crossed paths with my mom. It was during my thirteen years in Korea that I discovered my passion for drawing and art. My family then moved to the United States, settling in Michigan, and I began to explore even more of my artistic side with jewelry-making, art classes, and photography. My mom and aunt were hairstylists, and soon I fell in love with this art as well. I joined them in the salon, and eventually, opened my own!
I thought I was exactly where I was meant to be. Until one day, opportunity knocked on my door with a new creative adventure. The film industry was booming in Michigan and I met an incredible mentor who insisted I move to Los Angeles as a hairstylist. They couldn’t have been more right! For over a decade, I specialized in wigs and period hairstyling in the film industry and even earned an Emmy Nomination along the way.
Amidst this artistic journey, I began to crave more. At twenty-five, I took a bold step by investing in my first home in a small Texan town. I turned a significant profit from that venture, kickstarting my journey into real estate. It wasn’t until 2016, when I met my husband on a film set, that we were able to join forces and build on our mutual enthusiasm for real estate and design. Our partnership bloomed, and together we navigated the thrilling world of real estate investments. Through architecture school, real estate investments, interior design, and with a focus on sustainability, we were able to build our vision of Element Form. We want to be your ultimate guide in crafting a space that’s uniquely you. From first-timers to visionaries, we’re here to ensure your space truly thrives. Our blend of real estate investment knowledge and design artistry sets us apart. We believe that art should be an integral part of daily life, not confined to galleries. So, if you’re seeking a touch of magic in your living space, we’re here to make it happen.
As a Hispanic/Korean female with tattoos and a few rough edges, I stand out in the field I’m passionate about. In the world of architecture, where only 23.3% of professionals are women, the landscape can be challenging. When my husband and I walk onto a site, it’s often assumed that he’s the one in charge. Fortunately, I have an incredible ally who swiftly corrects that misconception and lets everyone know who is truly running the show.
Element Form is all about breaking barriers and defying expectations. We’re not just architects; as a Hispianic/Korean Female CEO, my company advocates for diversity, gender equality, and sustainability in our industry. Not only do I want to challenge the statistics and norms in architecture, but I also believe that sustainability and luxury are underrepresented aspects of design. It’s a new way of thinking and bringing in new concepts to old systems is not an easy feat. But while the road may be tough, every challenge makes us stronger and more determined to leave our mark on the world of design and real estate.
