Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started hair school in 2013 at 19 years old and no idea what I wanted or needed out of this industry. I graduated in June of 2014 from Toni&Guy Atlanta Academy. I worked in several salons, always looking for more education and direction within those spaces. The goal was never to be the best, but to always find a way to be better. I spent the majority of my time at a salon in Atlanta where the fire for blonding, lived in color and dimensional brunettes grew. I had a brand new baby at home and no money so I absorbed evey ounce of knowledge from the best Redken educators in the world that I could get. I left that amazing salon in 2019 with a dream of owning my own salon. I opened my first suite just for covid to hit six months into business. Like many salon professionals in those spaces, I had to shut down and ended up at Lenny’s Hair Salon in the Marietta square.
After two years of working for Lenny (who is absolutely the best boss ever), I finally had rebuilt enough to open my current suite in the Sola Salon suites in the West Cobb Avenues. The Rebel Vibe Salon, est 2022, is a specialized salon for anyone looking to embrace being a blonde bombshell babe, a low-maintenance lived-in blonde or be a dimensional brunette. After ten years of industry experience, The Rebel Vibe offers a luxurious and relaxing atmosphere to create and maintain gorgeous and healthy hair customized to the hair goals of every guest. I love what I do and hair sets my heart and soul on fire, and I love sharing it with my guests at every appointment.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has been anything but smooth. When I was nineteen and just starting out I really thought I had it figured out. Obviously, I was incredibly wrong. As cliché as it sounds, success is not linear and the majority of those first years (and even still now) were spent humbling my pride and my ego. No one person knows it all and I needed to be reminded that criticism and rejection were a major tools to truly being a quality person and stylist. I started out behind the chair as a single mom in an industry that does not offer a lot of leeway or handouts for women like myself and I really had to soak in a lot of both negative and positive experiences due to that. Would not trade it for anything. Those moments helped shape my self-worth and provided the growth I needed. Even now married with two kids and a salon suite my success is based on all those combined interactions. The journey isn’t over and I only hope to continue to grow and expand both my business and myself in the process.

These services include balayage as well Reverse balayage for the girlies that want depth added back into their hair or my brunette babes who want to have more depth added into their look. Each client receives an in-depth and highly detail-oriented consultation that does more than just breaks down the service. This time is allocated to inspiration photos, hair health, expectations for the service and beauty budget. Throughout every step of your service what I am doing or what the next step is, is always explained. This is your hair and your time, I prioritize that you should know what is happening so you have control of your hair journey.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The best advise for anyone starting in this industry is that you absolutely can do whatever you set your mind to, even if you change your mind a million times. This industry is moldable to you, even when you feel like it’s overwhelming at times. Push through, it’s so worth it. And if the salon feels toxic, it’s because it is. Leave it. Your dreams and worth are bigger than their little minds.
