Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Woods.
Hi Frank, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our Story is about keeping memories alive. My mentors aka my father and uncle have talked about leaving a legacy for as long as I could remember. It was with cigars we would talk about life, celebrate milestones and accomplishments both big and small. These were some to the happiest moments in my life. When I found out first child was on the way we celebrated with a cigar. Since then it has been a tradition, meeting new family members, promotions, closing deals, births and sadly even deaths. When my father passed in 2018, I knew that I had to continue the tradition especially since I have children. I wanted to have something to pass to them and my family and keep tradition alive. To be totally honest with you I feel as if he and my uncle are still with us every time I light a cigar. I hope that Carver Cigars can provide that same feeling and allow all of our patrons to reminisce on fond memories while enjoying our products. My father repeatedly stressed to everyone that no matter who are or where you come from you must live outside the box and should not conform to social norms. That’s the driving force behind Carver Cigar Co.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I must say that I have been blessed to have such a warm reception into this industry. I have made a few contacts that have become mentors and good friends. My goal is to say that I personally shook the hand of everyone that I have done business with. Initially there was a great deal of “Industry Homework” done, roughly a year’ worth. There was a lot of travel, phone calls and of course trial and error, I had to constantly remind myself that everyone has to overcome a few obstacles and struggles in order to truly appreciate your victories. I read somewhere that your biggest doubter or hater or whatever you want to call them will be someone who is close to you while your biggest supporter will be someone who doesn’t know you, I have found this to be true. I would tell anyone who is about to embark on a new venture to remember and use it as motivation.
As you know, we’re big fans of Carver Cigar Company. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a Cigar Company. With us its more than enjoying a fine cigar, but more so stimulating good memories and fellowship. That is exactly what we want to be known for. I call them “Carver Moments” I believe that is what sets us apart from everyone else. At the risk of sounding somewhat mushy (lol) I’d have to say the thing that I am most proud of is that this company keeps the memory of people who were close to me and significant moments in my live alive.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
5-10 years from now, I see a strong brand that not only brings you a great product but great events centered around the cigar lifestyle.
