Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Dillard.
Hi Gabrielle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My Journey Into Fitness: In the summer of 2021, I moved back home to Atlanta, GA. I was leaving in Durham, NC where I had obtained my Masters in Athletic Administration and teaching at a local high school “Southern School of Energy and Sustainability. I never knew in a million years that I would be a teacher. I had the honor to teach high school students for four years/an athletic director for 2 1/2 years. Growing up, my passion was to one day be an Olympic Gold Medalist. Unfortunately, my senior year of high school, I tore my ACL/meniscus. God had other plans for me. I was offered a four-year Academic Scholarship. After undergrad, I went on to receive my Masters. After teaching for four years, I decided to move back home to Atlanta, GA. My family needed me, and you only get one, so I had to do was best for me.
When I moved home, I honestly did not know what I was going to do. I have always had a love for people, and before I left Durham, NC I had started personal training. So I decided to take a leap of faith and look up gyms I could train. I was hired by the first gym I made contact. I started working at the Epi Fit Club. I was super excited. During this time, I learned a lot about myself, became very knowledgeable about fitness and met many connections that I am forever grateful for. During the summer of 2022, the Lord started speaking to me. The Lord granted me with me with my own Gym. I have been operating in my new facility since January of this year.
When you think of royalty, the image that comes to mind is eminence.
The fit to be royal brand offers everything that I am passionate about. Helping individuals meet their fitness goals, the benefits of eating healthy, and how to feel confident in your own skin are all aspects of life that I feel passionate about.
FIT ties in all things that you have to offer, and ROYAL is the essence of having power over one’s self, the embodiment of royalty in how you carry yourself, see yourself, and treat your body. The beauty in our bodies is that we have all been given a unique gift from God. That unique gift is our body. We are created in the image and likeness of God, and our body is our temple. God has given me a special to help individuals understand the importance of valuing and taking care of the temple that he has created for us. Our body is our foundation, physically, mentally, and spiritually. We have the power to control how we honor and treat our bodies. Our bodies are Royal.
Meet your New Trainer: It’s Gabby, I am a personal trainer, Mentor, group fitness instructor, and friend. I hope you find Fit to Be Royal to fill all your fitness needs. My passion has always been to educate and motivate others to reach their full potential. My journey started through educating and motivating children through physical education. During this stage of my life, I realized the type of impact I had on others. Watching close family members and friends journey through their life battling things such as mental health, obesity, anxiety, and cancer, I knew that I needed to shift my focus toward men and women who needed my help the most. Which leads me to where I am today. I followed my heart and walked by faith. My mission is to help you do the same. I want to help you reach your fitness goals, develop attainable eating habits, and become physically and mentally stronger.
The Fit to be Royal Foundation was started back in 2021 by its visionary leader Gabrielle Dillard. Fit to Be Royal has grown into an impactful Youth Movement. We are dedicated to creating the healthiest children and youth in the U.S., Fit to be Royal has sought to reach as many children as possible by supporting a collection of school-based health services made possible through its unique partnership with Atlanta Public Schools and Cobb County Public Schools.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout my journey, I have been faced with many obstacles/challenges along the road. In 2020, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. During this time, I was traveling from Durham, NC to Atlanta to make sure I was at every appointment. During this time, I had just been promoted. I was named the Athletic Director at the school I taught at. Seeing my mom go through cancer put a mental and physical toughness in me. During her journey, my mom never missed work. She went about her daily routines as if everything was normal. This is why I never make excuses. In life, we are going to be challenged with obstacles, but it’s how you deal with them.
I ended up moving back home to Atlanta in August of 2021. During this time, my grandfather’s cancer had come back. My Grandfather passed away on October 21st.
During this time, I was filled with so many emotions but did not know how to express them. All I could do was work to help myself get through this hurdle. My grandfather is/was my best friend. He helped raise me into the woman that I am today
I thank God for my anointed Grandmother and God Mother. They taught me the power of prayer. Reasons why I do not worry. I trust God. He is a waymaker.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
