Today we’d like to introduce you to Garion Mangum.
Hi Garion, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a small town called Roanoke Rapids North Carolina. It was there I gained my identity and love for music. In 2008, I officially moved to Atlanta. I started as a record producer and artist manager which led to starting my company Dreams to Reality LLC.
After three years of ups and downs with my artists, I realized my biggest issue. Due to unreliable photographers and videographers, we were not able to produce video and photo content consistently. It was always a major struggle. One day I decided to take the money that I budgeted for a music video and buy a camera to shoot the content myself. I have always been the type to just get the job done no matter what it takes. After shooting my first video I fell in love with the art of creating. Shooting a music video was like producing a record for me. I knew the key elements to create great content. After 9 months of shooting my photography and videography jobs took off. D2R Films was born. I was able to work with artists like Young Dolph, Lil Durk, Morray, Key Glock, and more. I also had the opportunity to work with major companies like Adidas, The athlete’s foot, and GNC. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was definitely not a smooth road for me. I have had a lot of struggles along the way. From fighting legal issues to being homeless and having to sleep on my brother’s floor for a year.
We’ve been impressed with D2R Films, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
D2R Films is a leading video production company with a core focus in web, tv, photography and film, founded by D2R G-Mac in 2019. They’ve helped produced project content including the wildly popular concert Dreamville, and produced high-quality video productions for Chick-fil-A, GNC, Record Labels, Mainstream artists, Real estate companies, and more. D2R Films provides services and content across various areas of production.
I believe the experience when working with my company is what set us apart. We do not operate like your traditional film company when filming. We like our clients to feel like family.
The mission is to inspire dreams and make them a reality through our work. I am helping people’s dreams come to life. This is what I am most proud of about my company.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was the guy that was cool with everyone. Always had a smile but somehow got into a lot of fights. One-on-one fights to being jumped, I learned that you have to stand your ground no matter what life throws at you. I got my drive and determination to win from these events.
