Community Highlights: Meet Happy Feat

Today we’d like to introduce you to Happy Feat. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Happyfeat is a nonprofit organization 501(c) 3 that supports individuals with special needs by providing inclusive programs to support our incredible friends and their communities in these critical areas: community involvement and life enrichment platforms. Our objective is pretty simple – create an immeasurable amount of opportunities for the world to see that those with disabilities are beautiful, valuable and capable. With the help from our amazing community and others, we can continue to build our organization that will support “the happiest people on earth” well beyond their high school years. We call it inclusion for life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Happyfeat began back in 2014. We wouldn’t say there has been many struggles, however we are still on the path of growing our company and achieving our overall goal, which is to serve as many individuals as we can. We have grown our summer camp and Day Program greatly over the years, but we still have more growing to do. We are working hard on fundraising so we can purchase more transportation vehicles and hiring more staff. Another goal of ours is to build a new state of the art facility one day as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Happyfeat has a Day Program and a summer camp for individuals with special needs. The Day Program is for members who have aged out of the school system. This is their biggest program, as it is year-round and follows Gwinnett County School Schedule. They also have a summer camp (Camp Happy) that runs for several weeks during the months of June and July.

Lucy Evans and Nicole Short run Happyfeat together. Lucy and Nicole offer a unique experience for all HappyFeat members. Their friendship began when they were kids and only grew stronger as they got older. Their shared passion has allowed them to grow Happyfeat into the program it is today, and they have just gotten started. Lucy and Nicole are continuously working hard to grow this program in the best of ways. Their ages are equivalent to their members, which adds a special dynamic for the group. Lucy and Nicole’s approach is to provide a mentorship so each member can continue to grow and be the best versions of themselves.

“Promoting independence is key here at Happyfeat. We provide appropriate accommodations and support to each member so they can continue to achieve milestones and succeed in life.”

Happyfeat also provides events to the community throughout the year! Our brand is everything “Happy” as you can see in our logo. Happiness, kindness, friendships, and inclusion is what we promote and spread through our events and brand.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Kindness is key. Inclusion, we want anyone who knows us to know they are capable and accepted no matter what.
