Community Highlights: Meet Harry And Beverly Pradon of Stormryder Kennels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harry And Beverly Pradon.

Hi Harry and Beverly , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Beverly and I started our business in 2020. Beverly had retired from managing an Optical office a few years earlier and I had just retired from Anheuser Busch. I retired early so that we could start out own full time business. We had been training dogs while I was still working for Anheuser Busch but not on as large a scale.
I built our kennels myself while still working. We have two 30X50 kennel buildings we utilize. We wanted our kennels to be our cornerstone of our training. We put a lot of thought and effort into making them great.
We were like every other new business owner and worried about being successful. Our philosophy was to treat clients like friends and create a companion that would bring joy to their household.
We train Retrievers and also do obedience training. A trained dog is an enjoyable addition to any home. An untrained dog turns into a lot of work for their owner just trying to keep their everyday lives going smoothly.
This type of work is very gratifying because a well behaved dog brings so much happiness to the home.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle has been with success. If you keep dogs full time you will always be busy. Our training model includes getting all of the dogs here out four to six times a day outside of training times. We believe the dogs learn much better with that freedom and exercise as part of the daily routine. This will consume the majority of every day. There are no days off.
This commitment to our pups and their training requires sacrifice on our part but
Is worth the effort for our clients success with their pup.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are located outside of Cartersville on a family farm. We have the perfect setting for Retriever and obedience trading. A beautiful country location. We’re constantly updating to the best operation we can provide. From comfortable kennels, insulated housing, spacious training grounds, the best food on the market, and state of the art equipment.
Training dogs is not one size fits all. Every dog is different and must be treated as such. We create the training to fit the dogs needs and that changes for every dog.
We treat your dog better than our own and I love my dogs so you know we are treating your dog great!
We believe the amount of time we spend getting the dogs out every day four to six times daily makes a huge difference for the dogs. The dogs love to spend time with us.
We will board a dog if we have trained them in the past. But only if we have trained them. Our driveway is nearly a mile long. Our clients tell us the dogs are bouncing and whining as they come up the driveway because they know where they are coming and can’t wait to get out and see us again. That lets us know we’re are doing it right.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
We never sacrifice quantity over quality. We do not move forward with training until the lessons we are teaching are learned. Many trainers feel pushed to complete in an exact time frame. We tell everyone each dog learns at their own speed and in their own way. We approach training the same way. Training is complete when the dog is successful.
