Community Highlights: Meet Ian Eze of Healthy Minds

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Eze.

Hi Ian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Becoming an advocate for the health and mental wellness of our youth, young adults and future leaders has been a lifelong journey. My initial work started back in my days in college where I worked at the YMCA to pay for books and my monthly necessities. It was this role that bonded me with my path and passion for working with our youth, with the hope of inspiring them in some way to be all they can be in this life.

From there, I served as a youth pastor for two years, working to build and instill core values with the youth of Victory Christion Center in Trinity, AL. Since then, I have volunteered as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters along with many other local grassroots initiatives one of which focused on creating balance for the transition of high school grads entering college along with establishing total wellness from dieting to managing a checking account.

From this active role, it was the pandemic that called me to a greater act of service with Healthy Minds. I had already been certified as a life coach and mentor, and with the growing challenges I saw our youth facing, I knew I had to do more. So I set out doing all the research I could to find out where the greatest gaps were and surprisingly after more than 100 hours of research and consulting with mental healthy professionals, I found my niche and point of focus.

Everything that I came across was from a reactive state when someone had already gone through the trauma and needed help trying to regain themselves or pinpoint why they might be feeling certain feelings. With that being the case, nothing in the space focused on prevention. It was with this finding that I began to build out the Healthy Minds platform with the focus on helping individuals develop the skills they need to live life fully and without fear.

Healthy Minds is a full-scale psychoeducational platform that focuses on being preventive in that we guide our members to the development of life skills such as emotion regulation, coping skills, managing change, and many other life tools that they will carry with them and need throughout the rest of their lives.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The challenges have been due to the natural apprehension that many have when it comes to mental health. Its been taboo for so long but is now coming to more of a forefront with terms such as self-love or self-care. This presents an opportunity for us to really talk about this topic from a preventative space.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Healthy Minds is a membership platform that takes a proactive approach to helping individuals up to the age of 24 sort through unforeseen trauma and change before mental and emotional trauma occurs. Our members walk away with the vital tools they need to cope and regulate their emotions in their daily lives.

Our interactive approach helps drive deeper engagement, resulting in enhanced learning and faster/lasting behavior changes. We empower our members to think for themselves, make their own choices through simulations/scenarios, and increased awareness and healthy responses to life circumstances. We engage our members on real-life topics and maintain their anonymity. This allows them to see what the majority of peers view/struggle with vs the limited perception of what is shown in the media.

Our members receive access to all of the items listed below along with a monthly group or one-on-one coaching session based on which membership they subscribe to.

– Weekly Interactive Video Content
– Weekly Quizzes and Assessments
– Resource tools and library
– Access to peer groups
– Access to highly trained coaches and mental health professionals

I am most proud of the development of the Healthy Minds platform and what we provide for our members as it is my act of service to the world.

I want the readers to know what we are doing and how much of an impact it is having and can continue to have with further awareness and support.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family and children have been the biggest inspiration in developing this platform. They are my reason for why I am what I am and I owe them a tremendous amount of gratitude.

In addition, Joy Roberts who is a licensed psychotherapist was there from the beginning and played a major role in the development of the Healthy Minds platform by providing industry insights and her educational background.
