Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Moses.
Hi Ian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Overall, my journey started when I found myself in NYC modeling for high fashion brands. I was trying to make a name for myself in New York and started modeling to get a bigger place and actually be able to enjoy NYC. I ended up modeling for some high fashion menswear brands and then obsessing over the clothing, styling, and fit rather than the images, photography, or runway I was taking part in. Doing shoots and getting free clothing became what fueled me as I was able to style them the way I wanted and put my own spin on the clothing. I had the idea to create my own clothing line living up in New York. From there, I went to college at The Ohio State University and majored in consumer science with a minor in entrepreneurship with the intention of starting my own brand. That takes us to present day where my team and I work towards one goal, In making my brand Reverse Descent the best streetwear brand in the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has definitely been a hard road and a struggle in some facets of the business but smooth in others. There are a lot of moving parts in terms of manufacturing, production, shipping, and supply chain that can be out of personal control at moments. Even the cost of goods and prices fluctuate massively depending on the specific piece and what we are working on. What I try to communicate to my team and what I try to instill in myself is controlling what we have control over and following in faith with the rest. I have to give the glory to God as there hasn’t been a situation my team and I Haven’t been able to conquer and learn from. I have taken the misses as learning experiences and built upon them in order to grow and evolve the business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Reverse Descent?
Currently, most of my time is dedicated to designing work, leadership in terms of my team, and everyday business requests and needs. Overall, Reverse Descent is described by the feeling of falling, looking for something to grasp onto, and the feeling of not knowing but falling into place. By taking streetwear elements and blending luxury details, materials, silhouettes, and techniques Reverse Descent strives to prioritize the finite details that make the sum a whole and focus on the grey space between falling and becoming. Reverse Descent draws inspiration from roman gothic fundamentals, angelic visuals, scripture, and stories. These fundamentals bleed and are embedded into the vision within each collection and release. Reverse Descent is Luxury Inspired by Spirit.
Additionally, I believe in this moment I’m most proud of the team I’ve put together and what we’ve been working on for this upcoming Fall/Winter in terms of releases and collections.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I would probably say that people think I’m the only one working on the brand and in reality, there is a four-person team behind me full of talent and ambition to make RD a household name. Big shout out to my team – Tony Ogletree, Courtney Weimer, Pete Ferrin, and Maliq Johnson.
