Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivana Brown.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
This is a very interesting question because I have been very creative most of my life, literally as long as I can remember. Walking the beat of my own drum fits me perfectly. I learned how to braid when I was 12 and how to take care of my own hair too. In the midst of that l always enjoyed using technology to create different things in pictures, whether it was on the old microsoft computers to use that drawing tool haha or actually being the most forward thinker in my 6th grade art class. I love to express myself through many art forms but my choice business wise is hair braiding, digital design, and creating content.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth but I believe that’s a professional hazard. Not one person can name an artist of any kind that didn’t face huge forms of hardship. I say this specifically because an artist is almost always a social outcast of some sort, this coupled with life doing as it does is the perfect storm. Some of the struggles I faced was finding and learning to keep my identity despite my surroundings trying to change or manipulate that. See Im huge on faith, specifically the Christ centered belief and that Im an image bearer who is the same One that created the heavens and earth. With that comes a different set of trials and tribulations because the spiritual battle against the devil is based on identity. Its a fight for my God given one.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about InSight Productions ?
InSight Productions came into tangible focus about 5 years ago, back then it had a different name but recently in 2023 God gave me InSight Productions. Its a faith based brand geared to all whether you’re in the faith or not. All people need identity and when we realize it can only be found in God, navigating life becomes easier. As of right now we are a podcast and content creation but there’s more to come especially in the apparel world. Its my belief that when you see, your perspective changes for the better and the best view is the bible and what God actually said not what you heard another paraphrase. The theme is a movie set because as stated identity is everything, when an actor plays a role for so long they find it hard to separate themselves from the character and the same sentiment can be found when we let life identify us and not God. My voice is not something Im most proud of but its a tool, my gift that allows me to connect to the masses.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Find someone that looks like you, not who you don’t want to be but who used to be you now and are a healthier version despite IT. And by that I mean if you’re living life after a tragic event find someone that experienced something similar but they overcame and used those ashes for beauty.
