Jahira , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t plan on becoming a lash artist — I just wanted something different for myself. I knew I didn’t want my future to look like working for others. I wanted to be my own boss, have freedom, and do something I actually loved. I started learning lashes out of curiosity and quickly realized how much I enjoyed it. I spent hours practicing, struggling with retention, perfecting fans, and doubting myself. But every set got better. Now, I look back and can’t believe how far I’ve come. From nervous first sets to fully booked — this journey has been worth every step
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first started lashing, I doubted myself a lot. My sets weren’t perfect, my timing was slow, and there were days I wanted to give up. Building a clientele from scratch wasn’t easy either. I had to learn how to market myself, manage bookings, and handle cancellations all while trying to get better at my craft. But every struggle taught me something. I learned patience, discipline, and that growth doesn’t happen overnight. Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come because every challenge pushed me closer to where I am today

I’ve had my fair share of good and bad luck, but I don’t rely on it. The truth is, my business grew because I showed up even when things weren’t going my way. The good luck always seems to come after the hard work not before
