Today we’d like to introduce you to Janisa Camille. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Janisa Camille (@janisacamille) or Ifatoyin, child of IFA and founder of Doula of the Divine, celebrity doula, @thedivine.tribe mentorship program, @blackbwbrunch and co-founder alongside doula sister, Lesley @madoulalez of @thedoulaloft resource healing home for doulas.
Ifatoyin is a proud, @mamaglow trained full spectrum doula focusing on birth, postpartum healing, abortion and miscarriage. as well as a single mother, founder of the black birthworkers brunch, author, herbalist, medicine wombyn, tarot reader and spiritual coach; with a total of 83 births within 3 years.
Currently, Doula of the Divine is cutting back from as many births to focusing on coaching and mentoring fellow doulas on technique and building not just their brands but who they truly are as birth workers so they can set theirselves apart from the rest, intentionally.
There are a lot of great doulas out there, but what sets you apart from the next doula is what I like to coach my fellow doulas and mentees on to build success with themselves as not just in birth work but also just being a good human being.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There hasn’t been any struggles as far as the lane that I’m currently moving into with Doula of the Divine which is building community and teaching/mentoring. I have a pretty good habit of creating what I needed… I’m able to maneuver through it with ease because I had to learn all of these things in birth work without a mentor guiding me along the way and just had to learn through experience and trial and error. So being able to go through the process early in my career, has allowed me to be able to be a great guide and coach for others through theirs as a mentor which has equipped me to be able to open my divine mentorship program for fellow doulas.
As you know, we’re big fans of Doula of the Divine, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Doula of the Divine is a holistic spiritual doula that specializes in birth and postpartum healing, doula services, and spiritual self-work before becoming a parent and building your village while trusting your natural instincts as not just a mother but as a wombyn. Providing birth services for BIPOC, because black maternal health is something that needs to be heavily protected and supported high was my reasoning for becoming a Doula.
Ifatoyin’s spiritual services are also provided under the divine umbrella… providing a divine, sacred and safe space to be vulnerable, coach and give spiritual guidance when dealing with motherhood, the mother wound, traumas, and generational wounds that need healing for black women and men. the anchor in healing your divine feminine.
I’m most proud of becoming a child of IFA and with doing that I’m able to involve my spirituality with being able to bring birth and the mindset of it back home while birthing with mind, body and spirit through mindfulness, movement, tradition and wisdom which is always the intention.
I’m also proud of being able to create community within the birth worker field in Atlanta and across other states by creating the black birth workers brunch (going on its third year) and the mentorship (going on its second year with 80+ mentees), and I have every intention on continuing to build.
Services offered are: birth and postpartum healing doula services, daddy doula class, spiritual services, placenta encapsulation, services for doulas like group and one on one mentorship, space rental at the doula loft (@thedoulaloft), birthworker release sessions and so much more.
All services can be found at www.doulaofthedivine.com
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned along my journey is that nothing is every perfect, personal, or permanent. And to do everything with intention without ego. Ashe.
