My name is Jay’lia Davis, and my professional journey began as a dancer, which was my first career for 17 years. Throughout this time, I was deeply committed to community engagement, including initiatives such as feeding the homeless, organizing fundraisers, and mentoring young women. Inspired by my passion for giving back, I decided to establish a nonprofit organization focused on addressing critical community needs. Our mission is to provide housing assistance, support youth in reaching their full potential, and help small businesses grow, thereby strengthening communities.
To further equip myself for this mission, I transitioned into event planning, working with prominent companies such as Delta Airlines, Sprint, Cricket, and AT&T. Over the course of five years, I specialized primarily in corporate events, gaining valuable experience in the industry.
Recognizing the importance of mentorship, I sought guidance from seasoned professionals in the fields of real estate, nonprofit management, and event planning. Their expertise helped me acquire the knowledge and skills needed to build a successful nonprofit. Today, I am proud to lead a comprehensive organization that serves communities nationwide, offering a one-stop shop for housing assistance, youth development, and small business support.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has not been without its challenges, particularly as a full-time college student and caregiver, in addition to facing various life circumstances. Despite these obstacles, my faith and commitment to perseverance have been my guiding forces. Through prayer and placing my trust in the right foundation, I’ve learned to keep moving forward, no matter the adversity.
I have encountered times where I lost everything—my car, my job—and had to rebuild from scratch. There were moments when it felt impossible, and I questioned whether I could continue. However, I reminded myself that no one will believe in my dreams more than I do. Looking back, I draw strength from the times when God helped me overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges, reinforcing my resolve to push through and keep striving.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is life itself. The simple fact that I have the opportunity to experience each new day, face challenges, and grow from them, brings me a sense of fulfillment. Life, with all its ups and downs, is a constant reminder of how precious each moment is. The connections I make with others, the chance to help people, and the opportunity to learn and evolve are all aspects that bring me joy. It’s the little things—whether it’s overcoming obstacles or celebrating victories—that make life so incredibly meaningful to me.
