Today we’d like to introduce you to Jequan Jiles.
Hi Jequan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My wife and I were under contract for a home and hired a home inspector. The home inspector said I had an eye for detail as I assisted him pointing out some things that were wrong with the home. He told me that he was looking for a new inspector and hired me on the spot. I began to work with him and studied for my certification. After a few years, I decided to venture out and started my own home inspection business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t always been easy, but it has been worth it. I actually started my business during the pandemic when the housing market began to boom. It started out very slow and I didn’t have many inspections. Due to the pandemic, many in-person real estate networking events that I would attend were canceled. I began to cold call, email, and use Instagram to DM realtors. As the business grew so did my 5 star Google reviews and homebuyers began to call me more. I also owe a lot of my success to the great realtors who trust me and send me referrals. I truly appreciate them.

Jiles Inspections provides quality home inspection services in the metro Atlanta area. We provide home inspections, roof inspections, mold inspections, pre-drywall inspections, radon testing, thermal imaging, water testing, and lead testing. We assist both buyers and sellers in the home buying process. Fair prices, superior quality, and exceptional customer service is what set us apart from other home inspection companies. We also co-host a quarterly real estate networking event with Mr. Mold Removal and other real estate professionals in Marietta, Georgia.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Beginning this business in the midst of a global pandemic was scary. However, I felt that the timing was right as the world seemed to stop temporarily during the shutdown. It gave me time to think and come up with a game plan. I initially invested a great deal into my tools and more extensive certification in my craft. Although risks can be scary, “No risk, no reward.” I would encourage anyone out there who has dreams of owning their own business to go for it.
