Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliannah Adeoye.
Hi Juliannah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Looking back, unbeknown to me, my journey began back in elementary school when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. Of course, the generic answer was to be a doctor, but my list didn’t stop there, as a 3rd grader I truly thought I could be any and everything. Part of that list included being a dancer, fashion designer, singer, baker, and an artist amongst other professions. Though I am neither of those things today, one thing still holds the same, my love to create.
It wasn’t until my senior year in high school that I began to actually understand this passion of mine. I started off doing my own hair in the 12th grade when a couple of friends began inquiring about my services. During that year, a friend and I also started selling handmade accessories. It was from that moment I figured not only was I good with creating things but I could make my skills profitable. This realization was confirmed when I had dream right before heading off to college. In this dream, I was wearing a business suit walking into a tall glass building rather than a white coat. That’s when I knew it was my destiny to be a business lady. Though I ended up majoring in Computer science and Math I did not realize this dream came true until about a year after graduating, I was staring out of a 21-story glass building as a Technology consultant… scary? I know.
From the moment I had that dream, I began pursuing the things that would get me there. As a broke college student, I began investing in myself by learning the skills that I could for free through YouTube and that’s when Touched by Ju Artistry was born. From there, I became the go to campus hairstylist and eventually, I started doing makeup too. Fast forward 6-7 years later, I ended up adding another skill to my creative services as an Event Designer and “The TBJ Experience” was born! In addition to my love for hair and makeup, I always loved planning events for family events. I was always more excited to plan the event than to actually have it!
However, I would not be here today if I did not follow my heart and the encouragement from family and friends to pursue my talents. And most importantly for the dream God gave me my senior year of high school (that was the true decision-maker for me). Since then, he has ordered my steps to where I am today. Even being blessed as a consultant, I have learned so many transferable skills and have been able to use that income to invest back into what I love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very bumpy road when it comes to consistency. Balancing being an entrepreneur while managing a corporate job, graduate school, and personal life, especially in these last few years in a pandemic, has been quite hard to say the least. There have been times where I have worked 40+ hours, with a full event weekend just to have an exam and a couple of assignments due the following Monday. These are times where I have felt like quitting to the point that I actually just had to take a break to reset and focus on my well-being. Only so much you can do for others if you yourself are falling apart. However, I would say this is one of the hardest decisions I had to make because often times I get hard on myself when I realize I am not where I would like to be especially when it comes to comparison (it really does steal your joy). But then again realizing I have been able to make the strides that I have made due to God’s divine plan and trusting that I will still get to where he has destined me to be, even with taking time off. There is no such thing as lost time in his plan and I am looking forward to seeing what these next few years hold.
As you know, we’re big fans of Touched by Ju Creative Services LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Touched by Ju Creative Services LLC was officially birthed in 2021. After about nine years as a hobby, I realized it was time to make this official. With TBJ Creative services, we currently specialize in Event design, Makeup services, and Creative Consulting. We have created for birthdays, graduations, proposals, bridal rooms, set design, amongst others. Most know us as “The TBJ Experience” for our event services and “Touched by Ju Artistry” for our makeup services. The goal is to branch into other services such as photography and graphic design as the year progresses as we love all things creativity at TBJ Creative Services.
This year we will be going through a rebrand to bring a new and improved image to the world. We want our clients to experience the best and know that with us, we will go above and beyond to bring a luxurious experience. Stay tuned!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
As I have mentioned previously, in the next 5-10 years, I see my business progressing to offer more creative services as the goal is to become one of the leading creative services. The goal is to continue to scale while maintaining quality. I would love to one day work with high-class clientele bringing grandeur ideas to life! One word I see for myself is “MOGUL.”
