Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Linacre.
Hi Kayla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my career as a medical assistant. When I started in dermatology, I had an attraction to the aesthetic side of the practice. I had a physician that took me under his wing and taught me a lot about the skin and the different things on the skin. I went to another dermatology office where I was still in an assistant medical role but they noticed I knew a lot about the aesthetic side of the practice, and at that time I could do aesthetic treatments in the dermatology office without being an aesthetician. When Georgia started putting the laser law in place, I knew I had to go to aesthetic school. I was working at the dermatology office doing laser hair removal, dermal infusions, chemical peels, and more. In the evenings, I was enrolled in aesthetic school. Once I graduated aesthetic school, I wanted to learn more and get into cosmetic lasers. I left my job and went to Scottsdale, AZ to attend the National Laser Institute. I learned so much about physics of cosmetic lasers. I came back and got a job at another dermatology office where I grew the aesthetic side of the practice, but they used me as a medical assistant as well. I knew I wanted to be a full-time aesthetician that specialized in cosmetic laser treatments. I got a job a plastic surgeons office and I rebranded the aesthetic side of the practice and updated cosmetic equipment. I also became a clinical educator with a cosmetic laser company. Once I had my daughter, I wanted to not go to work and wear so many different hats and be stressed out. I wanted to still make women feel confident in their skin. I went to work where women were so cruel to themselves and would pick themselves apart. I want to change that, I want women and men to come get medical aesthetic treatments and when they leave they’re skin in glowing and they feel confident. I want to build patient’s collagen without them having to have surgery later in life or not get fillers.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, I’m opening my doors officially March 8. Of course, you have bumps along the way, it’s a big learning curve when you go from working for someone/practice to working for yourself and learn on the back end of running your own business. Then of course, you can’t bank on all these patients seeking and following me. So I have and will have struggles along the way but it has been worth it and will continue to be worth it.
We’ve been impressed with Art Of Skin, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been in the aesthetic industry for over 15 years as a medical assistant turn aesthetician. I’m known for being a laser guru, lasers come easy to me. But it also comes with high expectations from patients. I specialize in anti-aging, building collagen to firm and tighten the skin also improving texture and tone. What sets me apart from others is all the knowledge I have on skin concerns and conditions from working in dermatology for so long. The treatment I’m most excited about is the Virtue RF, it’s a radiofrequency microneedling treatment. You can treat anywhere on the body with no downtime. It firms, tightens, improves fine lines wrinkles, scars, texture and tone, and stretch marks. I call this treatment my magic wand. I also do chemical peels, hydro dermabrasion, facials, Geneo 3 in 1 super facial, microneedling, and more!
What’s next?
I’m looking for growing my practice and seeing myself booked out, I need to open up more days. Of course, I’m always thinking what I can add or in the future but I’m working on being booked out and giving patients fabulous treatments.
