Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Schexnayder.

Kelli Schexnayder

Hi Kelli, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.

Starting from a young girl, I’ve always enjoyed cute clothes and fashion. I would wear the latest trends, sneakers, and hairstyles that were a part of the culture with the ID nameplates and rings, lol!! I’ve been the go-to person for “What can I wear with this? How can I wear this? What color should I wear with this?” Personal style has always been my thing. I started to entertain the idea of starting a boutique when I lived in Los Angeles.

I was so tired and burned out of working in my career, where I felt like I was just giving so much of myself and not receiving. I wanted to do something different, and fashion was my thing, so I decided to attend a fashion retreat to get tips on how to run a boutique, marketing, and investing. I started going to the fashion district in LA, curating collections, and fell in love with the process. The journey has been nonstop since that first investment!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road for me. It’s been the hardest challenge in my life. To explain, it’s like something that I’m addicted to…I have ups, downs, and complete downs but I keep going back for more because I love it, lol!

I had to take a break from the boutique when I moved to Atlanta because I was so overwhelmed with the move and work which prevented me from being consistent. The vulnerability, financing everything on my own, customer retention, and marketing have been a whirlwind and just being an Entrepreneur is hard but it’s so rewarding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have a women’s clothing boutique that I started in 2020. I started selling women’s clothing and accessories (tote bags). What I love about the clothing is that it’s great quality.

I focus on going to shows so I can feel the clothing to make sure that it’s good quality and can be worn multiple times and styled with different pieces from your closet. I am most proud that my brand is growing and the great compliments that I get from women about the boutique and the quality that they get when they receive their clothes.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I can describe it in one word…CONSISTENCY! Being consistent not giving up and continuing to educate myself to make my brand better as it grows.
