Community Highlights: Meet Makyah Hester of Kstyledit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Makyah Hester

Hi Makyah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been doing hair all my life, but I haven’t really had the passion to do it on other people until recently. I’m really scared of rejection so I didn’t really want to do it on other people and not get the results that me or them wanted, but I realized everyone has to start somewhere now I’m a beginner hairstylist thriving with my own business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been somewhat smooth, I did everything myself (bought the materials, made my website , etc.) with no help. So at first it was a bit stressful. But I’m still learning how to do certain styles and what works best for me and my clients. I’m also working towards getting my own suite !

We’ve been impressed with Kstyledit , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist. I’m self employed and the only employee working for me. I do a plethora of hairstyles but I just specialize in braids or weaves. I’m known for my talented self taught hands for braiding! What sets me apart from others are that I’m willing to go above and beyond and always wanting to try something new ! Something I’m most proud of is actually building a clientele and my own website. I want readers to know that not only am I good at it but I love what I do !!! I don’t do it for the money I do it because I love making people feel good about themselves. What better way to do that than get your hair done !

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m a college student full time and work part time aside from my business. I major in psychology and I want to be a therapist for the adolescent.
With me being in college, I know how it feels to need to have your hair done and still wanting it to be affordable. This is why I make my prices affordable for every college student around me and anyone who wants to get their hair done. Everyone is welcome.!

Pricing:
