Community Highlights: Meet Margaret Phiri of mPrint Creations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Margaret Phiri.

Hi Margaret, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My love for design got me started in the web design industry. At one time, I was in a position where I accounted. Every morning for three years I got a headache when I pulled into the parking lot. One day a manager asked me what I wanted to do with my life and my response led her to ask me, “Why are you here?”

That was it. I was in a position that I did not love, did not enjoy and it physically was making me ill. All the signs were there, but I didn’t recognize that at the time.

Moving along a few years later, I was in a different career where I worked with marketing and sales and I loved creating sales promotions and campaigns. That was the start of feeling the freedom following my passion. I took a design course and followed up with another and 13 years later, here I am.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road. I would have spared myself time and money had I found a mentor early along. Back in 2008, there were not that many people that were as open to sharing skills or business lessons as they are today.

Anyone can log onto YouTube and learn anything, that was not particularly the case when I started. I had to learn the hard way to pay myself first, the importance of following up with sales, wearing all the hats, and constantly working myself until the late hours of the morning.

Time is so important and valuable, outsourcing is your key to work/life balance. There are only 24 hours in the day and using 20 hours working is not healthy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
mPrint Creations is a website and brand development business. I help new businesses expand their online presence. I specialize in small to mid-size businesses and organizations.

I specialize in getting consultants a website that converts into sales or booking clients. This year I have also added email marketing as an add-on to the services that I offer.

The work I did with St. James UMC, in Alpharetta Georgia, this was a website redesign project. I am most proud of this project as it fueled my passion for the work I do with churches and non-profits.

Readers should know that in 2021 it is easy for anyone to go to a do-it-yourself website company, however, there are limitations to those programs as you get what you pay for. It is important to set yourself apart and not have another cookie-cutter website. That is where mPrint Creations will set your business apart from your competition and have clients that will keep coming back to you.

What are your plans for the future?
Every year I set my yearly goals, this year my plans for the future include increasing my team. I’m hiring! Yes, yes, yes, there is so much to do so this year, I am starting off with expanding my team.
