Today we’d like to introduce you to Markita Jackson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I think about “my story” in regard to how I got started as a Life Coach, I can honestly say I’ve been a “Coach” since I was a little girl. I was always that person that understood others or naturally created a safe space for people to be themselves. If you ask anyone connected to me, they will tell you I am always trying to get someone to see the “silver lining” in any situation. In High School, I wanted to be a therapist and to have my own private practice, but my home life and childhood circumstances didn’t allow me to fulfill that dream. But as I got older, I never lost my passion for motivating other people. And when I became a mother, it became very clear that I needed to pursue my dreams of helping others and be someone my child could be proud of. So in 2019, I was doing some research and came across the subject of “How To Become a Life Coach”. After looking into this industry, all of the options I had, and how lucrative it could be, I decided to get the training I needed to become a Life Coach and in 2020, “Coach Kita J” the “Happiness Advocate ” was born.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely NOT! But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Some of the struggles I’ve faced along the way are staying focused on building my brand in a way that is not like everyone else’s. In this new age of social media, you are almost ALWAYS compared to someone who is in the same industry. So that has created self-doubt for me at times. But I know that no one else is ME so I keep that in mind. Balancing motherhood can be a challenge as well because I want to be just as devoted to my child’s dreams and goals as I am to my own. I am very blessed to have a wonderful Co-parent, so that support gets me through and back on track. And surprisingly, having a career while building a business challenges me because I can get complacent with making good money and that tends to dilute my efforts and causes me to not think BIG enough. But I know if I keep putting myself in the right rooms, I’ll continue to think more like an entrepreneur.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
A To Z Coaching & Training LLC is the name of my business but I am known to do business as “Coach Kita J” or “Coach Kita” I am a Certified Life Coach, Emotional Intelligence Practitioner, and a member of the Complimentary Therapist Accredited Association (CTAA). I help aspiring and established entrepreneurs create Personal Growth and Emotional Health strategies so that they can thrive personally and professionally. My Services are Mindset & Emotional Mastery, Goal Setting, and Personal Development. What sets me apart? My ability to speak life into anyone I’m connected to that is something that can’t be taught in any book or Google search. What I want readers to know is that I am not the type of Coach that gives a bunch of advice, my coaching style is one where I ask my clients the RIGHT questions. And that is what brings clarity and real transformation to an individual’s life. I am most proud of being my authentic self when it comes to my brand, I am not interested in having one persona online and a different one in life. As far as offers go, readers can look forward to two services from my business starting in August. I will offer “The Power Hour” which is a 90min Personal Growth strategy session and my “Emotional Mastery Assessment” a 90min session where a client can discover their current emotional intelligence state and ways they can improve. You can also check out my personal growth podcast called “The BABE Life Podcast” on Spotify.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
That it is ALWAYS your turn! You do not have to wait on someone to give you permission to grow or follow your dreams. If you feel like it’s not the right time to start something then ask yourself: What is the specific thing you are waiting on? And remember this, Motivation is TEMPORARY. It will come and go like any other emotion. The only way to truly activate motivation is to MOVE.
