Community Highlights: Meet Monique Pierre-Louis of EnTouch Counseling & Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Pierre-Louis.

Hi Monique, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into counseling began while I was working as a Life Skills Coach in the county school system. I was struck by how many children were missing large amounts of school without clear explanations, and that curiosity led me to look deeper into the emotional and environmental challenges they were facing. At the time, I never envisioned myself as a therapist or business owner—I saw my future firmly rooted as a school counselor.

Today, my path looks very different. I work primarily with adults from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate life’s challenges with compassion and practical insight. I’m based in Brewton, Alabama—a town of just 6,000 people—and building a private practice in such a small community has not been easy, especially with two other practices located within half a mile. To grow and sustain my work, I expanded beyond geographical limits and became licensed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. By embracing virtual sessions, my practice not only survived but truly thrived.

At my core, my goal has always been to help people. As a middle-aged woman, I bring lived experience, resilience, and perspective into my work, alongside clinical training and psychological expertise. I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, seen, and valued—and that commitment continues to guide everything I do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Competition from large corporate teletherapy platforms
Insurance headaches – credentialing delays, claim denials, low reimbursement rates, confusing billing rules.
Navigating dual relationships in small communities
Finding a steady referral stream

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
About Our Practice

The myth of therapy deserves to be laid to rest. Therapy is not about labels, judgment, or being “fixed.” It is a blank slate, a confidential, comfortable space where you are free to express your innermost thoughts without fear of opinion or criticism. It is a place to breathe, to be heard, and to begin healing.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, currently licensed in Alabama and Florida, with a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges with clarity and confidence. I specialize in ADHD, depression and anxiety, anger management, couples therapy, life skills development, and building self-worth. My work is rooted in helping clients gain insight, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.

I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Faulkner University in 2015. As an eclectic therapist, I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs—because no two people, stories, or healing journeys are the same. I proudly work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, creating an inclusive and compassionate environment where everyone feels welcome.

What sets my practice apart is the balance between emotional depth and practical skill-building. I strive to create a cathartic, supportive space while also teaching tools that cultivate perseverance, emotional regulation, and long-term growth. I especially enjoy helping individuals discover their passions, remove internal blocks, and reconnect with their sense of purpose.

Life is what life does—and I understand that deeply. Through my own lived experiences, I recognize how overwhelming life can become. Yet, with the right support, perspective, and coping strategies, we can learn to manage our thoughts, reframe challenges, and navigate life’s complications with resilience. What I’m most proud brand wise is Therapy isn’t about being “fixed.” It’s about having a space where you can finally be real—without fear of judgment and that’s EnTouch Counseling’s brand.

If you are ready to gain insight, improve productivity, strengthen relationships, and approach life with renewed confidence, I invite you to begin your therapeutic journey here. Healing starts with a conversation—and I would be honored to walk alongside you.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has been a quiet companion in my life, a gentle nudge forward, sometimes a sudden challenge I wasn’t ready for. In personal moments, it has shown up as chance encounters with mentors, friends, or opportunities that felt almost too good to be true. These lucky breaks shaped my path in ways I could never have planned. And yet, bad luck has also left its mark: unexpected setbacks, sudden challenges, or moments that tested my resilience. Those experiences, while difficult, forced me to grow, adapt, and discover strengths I might never have realized otherwise.

At EnTouch Counseling, luck often dances between timing and preparation. I’ve had the fortune of being present for clients at pivotal moments, witnessing breakthroughs that felt like perfect alignment of opportunity and readiness. I’ve also faced unforeseen crises or organizational obstacles—situations that, at first glance, felt like nothing but bad luck. Yet even in these moments, I found lessons in patience, problem-solving, and empathy, learning that resilience often emerges where chance meets choice.

Looking back, luck (good and bad) has shaped both my personal journey and my professional path. It has taught me humility, gratitude, and the importance of staying present and prepared. Most importantly, it has reminded me that life’s unpredictability, rather than being a barrier, can be a source of growth, connection, and insight.
