Community Highlights: Meet Nikki Joseph

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Joseph.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am the oldest of two Air Force Veterans. With that lifestyle came a lot of traveling and different environments, but one thing that was a constant was houses. My mother and I would drive around for hours throughout different neighborhoods and look at different houses, she would always say “when you get rich, I want you to buy your momma that house right there.” This went on through my adult years, When I became a mother, I even found myself doing this with my oldest child and saying those words to her. So I guess you can say real estate has always been my smooth Sunday morning. As the years went by, I relocated to Atlanta and got married, the time spent with my mother and looking at houses daydreaming about “when I become rich” became few and far between.

In 2020 my mother passed away tragically two weeks after I gave birth to my son. Going through postpartum and grieving my mother, I needed a lifeline and I instantly thought back to driving around looking at homes. But I didn’t want to “window shop” anymore I needed retail therapy and wanted to BUY (well help people buy lol, but you get my point). So at the end of 2021 I began studying for my real estate exam and was licensed on angel day (2/22/22) I don’t know if you believe in signs but I do and that was a big red flag that my mother was still around and beside me in everything I do. and wallah, Nikki Joseph Realty was created out of literal pain, sweat (that examination is stressful!) and tears (both happy to help others and sad that it took a death for me to find my passion).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a new agent is a struggle all within itself! Deciding on how to brand yourself, your market and how to make yourself shine in an over-saturated market is a daily struggle. Also obtaining the client in the very beginning will make the strongest person want to give up, but all I can say is be persistent and do the work! When I first decided to go into real estate I had a real talk with myself and asked “what am I doing this for?” and yes, the potential earning potential was a definite positive, but my reasoning was much deeper. I didn’t have the opportunity to buy my mother the home of her dreams while she was on this earth, but I could and would help others get their dreams homes and create those memories that I wasn’t able to. I promised that I would be the most authentic version of myself and I would be dedicated to learning  all I could about real estate so that I could be the most knowledgeable agent for my clients, and in doing so I would not only gain the knowledge and experience needed to dominate the market and become a top producing agent, I would also get the healing needed to grieve my mother while doing something her and I always loved doing together (looking at houses)! This method has worked for me and although my time in real estate has been short, I am currently working with 5 pre-approved buyers, which was my goal for the whole year!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am an agent serving the Metro Atlanta area. I don’t want to only be a Realtor but a beacon of help for other women who may be looking for a career change or something to supplement their income. I hold a free virtual study group on Tuesdays where I help those who are currently studying to take the Georgia licensing exam. I am also teaming with newly licensed agents to help them zone in on their brand, their target market but most importantly helping them when they get that first client and walking them through the steps of a purchase in hopes that they can avoid some of the pitfalls I ran into and get right to earning some money!

I believe what sets my brand apart is me! I have been a teenage single mother, I have been married and divorced and now remarried with two toddlers so to say I can relate to any person’s situation is an understatement. I’ve also been in every living arrangement imaginable and have a great ability of seeing the potential in a home and relaying it in a way that my client can visualize the potential as well. I also believe that picking a home is the next biggest thing to picking a spouse, and so I treat the process and my business as such. You can just call me the house matcher lol.

How do you think about happiness?
My happy place is wherever my children (16, 3, & 20 months) are. They are all at pivotal places in their lives and as a mother whom is also an entrepreneur, it gives me great pride in being able to feed into their creativity and dreams. As an example, my 16 years old is a self-taught artist with certificates from Harvard University in graphic and web design, she has aspirations of being an animator and graphic designer; she currently creates all of my social media content and is creating my website. My three years old is very outgoing and loves to attend showings as my “assistant” and tell the client her favorite part of the home. She is definitely the next face of Nikki Joseph Realty!
