Today we’d like to introduce you to Quo Vardis Thompson.
Hi Quo Vardis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Birth work was always in my spirit to do even as a child with aspirations of becoming an OB/GYN. Life tends to take unexpected turns and I enlisted in the U.S Air Force and began my career in physical therapy. During my time in the military, I gave birth to my first child which was a traumatic experience.
My son was the first grandchild on both sides and only one of my close friends had a child at the time, so I became very involved in learning everything I could in regards to birth. I began to be present for several friends and family members during their pregnancy and births which led to one of my friends after helping her with breastfeeding state, “You should do this as a business”. I was confused and asked, “Do what?” She said,” You should be a doula.”
I had never heard of a doula so I began researching and was amazed that there really was a ‘job’ for what I just truly loved doing.
I prayed about it and talked to my husband then shortly after The Faith Planted Doula was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It is a God-thing, so it has been very smooth. He told me why I was in this space and He provides all of my clients. It’s been full circle. Birth is what I’m assigned to for the Kingdom which is why it’s always been ‘that thing’ I felt called to.
I initially sought out mentorship and they actually cautioned me on entering into this space as an uncompromising and faith-based business, but that’s when I knew it was exactly what I was supposed to do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a Kingdom doula meaning I’m unapologetically pointing birth back to the Creator, to Christ. Birth is His design and He is very intentional about it so in a space that has been infiltrated with witchcraft and new age idolatry/beliefs, I stand.
I provide mothers and their families with education, support, community resources, prayer, and deliverance. I’m the doula for believers.
I’m set apart because of who I am in Christ. My testimonies are public and I share them to show that God truly brought me out of so much ignorance and hell that I was unaware of which makes me different, especially in the birth worker scene. I’m salt for sure LOL
I’m proud that my brand has always been built on His work. There’s never been a question of who I am or what I stand for as it’s been clear from Day 1. This business was my first step in radical obedience and heeding His voice. I’m proud of that.
I want readers to know that there are doulas in this space who follow Christ unapologetically, uncompromising, and bearing fruit. Not perfect, but living to be perfected in His eyes. That intercede for you and your child(ren) for Kingdom purposes and absolutely love it!
