Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Burdette.
Hi Rachel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in this industry began when I was at a bit of a quarter life crisis. After the birth of my son and the loss of a family member, I felt like what I was doing wasn’t enough and I wanted more. I have done a lot of different jobs over the years but never found something that was my true passion that I felt like I could grow in. Funny enough, I stumbled upon aesthetics when me and one of my mothers friends were googling top careers for women after I’d explained how uncertain I felt about my future. I had actually never heard of aesthetics before that. I’ve always gotten a wax and enjoyed it, I enjoy having massages regularly and even for my bachelorette we went to spa and had facials. So when I discovered that under an aesthetics license, I would be able to perform a variety of services that I actually love myself- I got really excited. I decided to dive in immediately. The school that I applied to right after that said they had a 2-year wait list. I felt discouraged but I knew that if it was what I was supposed to do then God would take care of it. A couple weeks later I got a call that they had a spot available for the next semester which was only a month away. I took it and it was meant to be. Throughout my schooling. I was determined to become an independent operator straight out of school. I set a lot of goals for myself, watched a lot of videos and took a lot of notes in school. I did a lot of research to choose where I wanted to open. I found an incredible town where there were plenty of local events and advertising opportunities. Once I graduated I was able to rent a room and honestly have had an incredible experience. I’ve dedicated blood, sweat, tears and many sleepless. Now I look forward to showing up for work and have independent operators that work along side me at my own location – ReBloom Wax & Body Studios!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think everything that grows will have some struggles along the way, or else there would be no real growth. My biggest struggle has honestly been the paperwork side of the business. When I first started it took months for the state to approve my license and while that was happening I was already paying rent just without the ability to work. Thankfully I had financial support through my husband and was able to use that time to pre advertise my business. I put that down to why I grew so quickly. I was able to spend months just focusing on advertising with nothing else to do. I still struggle with the paperwork but have learned to ask a lot of questions and push myself to sit down once a week and go over things. I’m big on routines and that keeps it from getting too overwhelming.
The other struggles have been those caused by being a renter within another business. Thankfully I’m out of that situation now and can provide a safe calm spot for my renters where they won’t have to go through what I did starting out.
As you know, we’re big fans of ReBloom Wax & Body Studios . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Fun fact- my business is named ReBloom because it’s actually my initials (REB). It’s also because I wanted a business that would allow people to feel comfortable, open up and enjoy visiting. Where they could leave and feel refreshed and as if they were reblooming in life.
A little more on why my business was began… I have loved getting aesthetic services done for years. It makes me feel like myself. In particular, I love my regular wax. When I got into this business I’d become more frustrated over the years trying to find a studio that was comfortable to me with a provider that was knowledgeable. It felt like I had to go to Atlanta to get the boutique vibe with genuine costumer service I loved.
That’s why ReBloom was born. I wanted to create a space with specialized providers that loved what they did and a facility that always felt clean, warm and welcoming.
Along with myself, I have several other specialized independent operators. I specialize in full body waxing and lash extensions. They are both things I personally love having done and really enjoy providing. I think limiting my services allows me to deep dive and learn more about them. I would personally rather know a lot about a little than a little about a lot when it comes to me being on someone’s skin.
Our biggest difference from others in our industry is that we LOVE what we do. In a time where it feels like costumer service is on the decline, we strive for excellence. I am so proud that I have created a space that people love and tell their friends and family about. My business is personal for me and I want others to feel that. Thankfully they do.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My best quality in this industry is definitely my people skills. I’ve worked in customer service for over 10 years and it’s given me so much empathy and care for people. I love to make others feel welcomed and valued because they are!
