Hi Rasheeda Rhonda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey to entrepreneurship wasn’t overnight—it was a path paved with life lessons, resilience, and a deep commitment to my people. Growing up in New York in the 70’s and 80’s, I saw and experienced things that could’ve hardened me, but instead, they strengthened me. I learned early on that knowledge, wisdom, and faith were the keys to survival. I carried that with me through every phase of my life—through motherhood, through my years working in education and social services, and ultimately, into the creation of Tranquility Boutique & Gifts.
Tranquility was never just about selling products—it was about building something that truly serves our people. I wanted to create a space where culture, spirituality, and holistic healing could come together naturally. A place where Black people could walk in and feel themselves and their culture were seen, valued, and understood. That’s why I infuse intention into everything—from the crystals and healing tools to the atmosphere and the energy that fills the space. Every product, every event, every interaction is about empowerment. This is my way of giving back, of creating something lasting, of leaving behind a legacy rooted in healing, wisdom, and love.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I started Tranquility Boutique & Gifts in July 2021 and it was a leap of faith, but faith alone doesn’t pay the bills or run a business. One of my biggest challenges was marketing—getting the word out, reaching the right audience, and making sure people understood what Tranquility was really about. The boutique isn’t just a store; it’s an experience, a space of healing, and a place where people can find products that truly improve their well-being. But how do you translate all of that into sales and visibility? That took time, effort, and a lot of trial and error.
Maximizing our location was another challenge. Forrest Park, Georgia, has its gems, but like any business, you have to work to pull people in. I had to learn how to create events, promotions, and experiences that made Tranquility a destination, not just a store. And then there was inventory—selecting the right products, managing stock, and making sure I wasn’t just selling, but selling with intention. But through it all, I never compromised my mission. Every product, every service, every event is about giving more value than what people pay for. That’s the heart of Tranquility, and I will always believe in that.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up in the New York was a mix of hardships and lessons that taught me the importance of faith, love, and community. From a young age, I had a deep sense of purpose that set me apart from others. My grandma was my role model—she instilled in me the belief that I was destined for greatness, and I held onto that belief tightly. Despite the struggles of the environment I grew up in, I always felt that there was something more for me—something greater than what was in front of me. That sense of spirituality and belief in a higher purpose carried me through my toughest moments.
I was always a giver, always wanting to help others and see them rise. I took that to heart, and it shaped me into someone who couldn’t just stand by and watch the world go on without trying to make it better. I carried those lessons into adulthood, knowing that the things I’d experienced had all been part of my journey—preparing me for what I would one day do: create a space of healing and empowerment for others. It’s this same spirit of service and love that now guides everything I do through Tranquility.
