Hi Rebecca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I are serial entrepreneurs. We began over 20 years ago with a non-emergency transportation company in 1999. Additionally, we opened up a high-end mechanic shop as well as a small community gym; all in the Conyers area.
This current project began as a small foot massage and nail salon combination. In the search to find properties suitable for the business, we were introduced to our current site. In August of 2021, we closed on the property which is now Platinum Beauty Bar & Spa. We purchased a 7000-square-foot building and began renovations. Construction that should have taken 4 months, took 1 1/2 years due to Covid and inflation. However, we made it through many trials and obstacles and opened our doors on December 10 of 2022.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, the ride has not been smooth at all. Construction was a literal nightmare. Between finding qualified sub-contractors who would show up to the job site and the cost of materials which increased 300%; the road was definitely a struggle. All memorable sayings come from somewhere. So as the saying goes; anything that is worth is not easy. We have been through the struggle, now we wait for the worth it…

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico as an only child. I was painfully shy. My passion was sports, particularly gymnastics, which I participated in for 10 years. Additionally, I played soccer and ran track. I loved to draw and do creative projects. To this day I am still quite shy, but being a business owner I have to have an out-of-body experience and overcome the shyness to promote my businesses.
