Official Ria, aka Riahna Edwards, MS, is a suburban, studious, adventurous, and ambitious woman from Long Island, NY. As the only girl and eldest of three, it was imperative for her to become the best role model for her brothers; giving up was not an option. By the age of 22, Ria obtained a Master of Science in Entertainment Business and Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. She has gained various experiences in retail, merchandise, real estate law, events and restaurants, independent music labels, sports entertainment business law, and hospitality industries. Acquiring diverse training, leadership, education, and practical expertise allowed Ria to propel forward as an independent business owner. Her transferable skills, valuable assets, and virtuous core values is what motivated her to endure the path of entrepreneurship, small business owner, and eventually a strategic investor. Ria is determined to create an everlasting, significant, and impactful legacy; her new developed economy. She aims to become an illustrious and positive motivational speaker, mentor, coach, consultant, and trusted advisor for her clients and the global community. “Success” is important to Ria, however, prioritizing her clients’ success and developing genuine, loyal, and nourishing relationships is her true purpose.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The renowned transformational leader, author, speaker, and ministry advocate Dr. Cindy Trimm said “Prospering is the divine enablement to overcome obstacles that prevent you from fulfilling purpose.”
The road called “life” was not smooth. I was a product of both systematic/systemic corruption in (U.S.) Pre-K – 12 education system. I defined the “American Dream” (Pre 2019 Pandemic) as: go to college, acquire student loans debt, work for a successful company with benefits, create a family, retire at age 65, live off Social Security benefits, and hopefully live to see past the age of 100. I felt like I was raised in a sheltered reality. From experiencing racism at a young age, enduring mental illness and relationship conflicts, not learning my real ancestral history, and other personal adversaries, I often think I moved through life like a ghost. Dance was my life; I found an activity where I was always able to be vulnerable to express and release my frustration, anger, and sadness. Dance was the only activity I pursued and enjoyed as an adolescent.
Throughout my journey, I had relatives and friends, but I always felt alone. I was in the rat race striving to achieve results in my professional life, in comparison to my private personal life. I would never share what I was going through, what I witnessed, or any other personal events. I lacked self-confidence, naively loyal and trusted others quickly, and often allowed others’ opinions to dictate my own. I was not aware of what “life” was until I left home to begin adulting.
We can only control our mind, thoughts, words, actions, and behaviors. Understanding who I am, identifying my purpose, and discovering why I am on this planet has become the ultimate battle to conquer; to break generational curses and make a difference in this world. Knowing we are all human on the path of discovery and breakthroughs causes me to judge less, be more kind, and listen deeply to people. I am mindful of the company I keep, their level of self-understanding that directly impacts my life, and protecting the energies and spirits that surround my presence. We are all on different levels in life. Picking and choosing wise battles is key, yet unavoidable, in life; it is all about persevering with grace.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Character, integrity, inner peace, self-respect, and nourishing relationships that resonate with my divinity is the greatest impact on my personal and professional success. Inner peace within my mind, body, and soul is imperative for individualism, growth, and maturity. Self-respect is the personal standard we impose on ourselves. Integrity elicits esteemed value, ethics, and morals we exude amongst others. Character is the perceived impact we emanate in diverse facets of life where our assets, expertise, and strengths are valuable qualities. Nourishing relationships directly influence our present and future pathways. Ensuring all elements are balanced and achieved on a consistent daily basis are vital to me. The imperfect, persevering, and assiduous person I grow to become, radiating principles of a relatable role model, attributes of a righteous leader, and creating and sustaining an impactful legacy and brand matters to me; a successful lifestyle.
