Community Highlights: Meet Sally Faulkner of Chambre d’Amis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sally Faulkner.

Hi Sally, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I first studied to be an architect and then decided to get my master’s degree in Art History. I have worked in a gallery, a museum, and as curator at a university. When I moved back to Atlanta right before the 1996 Olympics, I started working for an art consultant that focused on corporate art collections. Eventually, I moved to another firm that specialized in hospitality and that was when I knew that I was home. At Faulkner+Locke, we design high-end art and accessory programs for commercial spaces, mostly hotels.

In 2017, my business partner, Brenda Locke, and I started Chambre d’Amis, with a website, www.chambre-damis.com, and a booth at Westside Market. Chambre d’Amis is French for guest room, a term often used in the hospitality industry. In English, it translates more literally to “room for friends.” We sell high-end towels, bathrobes and other items that are currently only available to the hospitality trade. We wanted to bring the luxurious experience of a hotel or a spa to your home.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The company has been slowly growing, mostly through recommendations and return customers. Many of our items are imported from Europe and are not available elsewhere. As you can imagine with COVID, the shipping process and receiving inventory from Europe on a timely basis has been more difficult this year.

We’ve been impressed with Chambre d’Amis, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are one of the few resellers of the Mascioni brand. The Mascioni company is one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of luxury towels and robes. Additionally, we sell Peshtemal linen robes and towels made from the world’s finest cotton from Denizli, Turkey. In our Westside Market booth, we also offer organic dried lavender, European soaps, and other essential spa items.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The high quality of our products is the first priority of our brand. And the uniqueness of our product line curated specifically for our clientele so they can bring the luxurious feel of the hotel into their home.

Pricing:

  • Towels range from $5 to $45
  • Robes range from $110-125
