Hi Shanice, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small city in Florida named Hollywood, where you make the life you want for yourself, no one gives it to you. I knew I would have to work hard for myself if I wanted more for myself. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, in 2017 and started a new property and casualty insurance career. Outside of my new career path, I’ve always been the go-to person for resourceful information, credit repair, or anything Financial. While working as a P&C Agent, I met the most amazing woman who changed my life forever. She was there to encourage and motivate me; she was even a helping hand if I needed one. This woman saw my potential, my ambition, and how great of a mother, friend, and support I am to my family; she knew that the Tax Industry would be perfect for me. I wondered if I would get any clients or if people would trust me. All that doubt went out the window when I made my first tax flyer. I had family and friends lined up to get their taxes prepared by me. Since then, I’ve started my own Tax Firm, Freedom Advantage Resources, and my clients continue to grow year after year. I’ve hired a team of preparers and admin staff to assist with our overwhelming growth, and I couldn’t be more humbled. I’m the epitome of trusting the process and not despising small beginnings.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has sometimes been challenging. I’ve had to put in countless marketing and tax training hours to ensure I’m well-informed and have well-informed clients. I’ve had to spend long nights in the office, neglecting time with my children so I can prepare my clients’ taxes without missing any credits or deductions. Tax season and the months leading up to tax season are always my busiest, and being that busy takes away from precious time spent with loved ones.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I used to be heavier. When I started my Tax Business, I was morbidly obese. I have a lot of flyers and photos that still circle and reflect me much more than I am now. Over the past year, I’ve embarked on a weight loss journey, so my appearance has changed drastically. Many of my followers and new clients still can’t believe it’s me on my older flyers. I think it’s funny to see their reaction after finding out that I’m the same person from the flyers.
