Today we’d like to introduce you to Shola Adeyemo.
Hi Shola, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Shola Adeyemo. I am the founder of Royal Style Inc, which specializes in Health, beauty, and African fashion. I have been a pharmacist for 40+ years and throughout that time I have been blessed to help several members of my community improve their health both in the United States and Nigeria.
I was born and raised in Ibadan, Nigeria where I attended Obafemi Awolowo University (formally known as the University of Ife) to study pharmacy. Upon graduation from pharmacy school in Nigeria in the 1980s, I opened my first pharmacy and retail store in Ibadan, Nigeria and soon opened a second location, to increase service to more members in the Ibadan community. From the very beginning, I focused on holistic wellness—helping people not only with prescription medications but also through lifestyle guidance, nutrition, and herbal supplements.
Upon relocating to the United States in the mid-1990s, I worked as pharmacy manager for chain pharmacy stores for several years, building meaningful relationships with customers. Throughout that time, I treated each pharmacy as if it were my own and invested time in ensuring that my customers had a positive outlook about their health.
In 2011, I stepped out in faith and opened an independent pharmacy and retail store in Lithonia, GA because I saw a need in my community for patient-centered care and health education for minority individuals with a focus on natural health products. At the same time, I wanted to create a vibrant space to share the richness of African culture, particularly through African fashion—an area that many of my customers had expressed curiosity about.
To start my business, I invested my own 401(k) for startup costs and trusted God to guide the journey. Today, Royal Style Inc is more than a pharmacy—it’s a celebration of African heritage, health, and beauty, where culture and wellness intersect.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a challenging road over the last 14 years, but God’s grace has sustained the business.
There were many times when my faith was tested, specifically as it pertained to the construction of our new location. The construction project that we were told would take approximately 6 months when we began took over 2 years, causing a financial and mental strain on my family that we are still recovering from.
But through it all, God has been faithful. There were many independent pharmacy retail stores that started at the same time as me or a little after me that are no longer in business due to a number of challenges including declining reimbursement from insurance companies and continuous increases in the cost of inventory. Through God’s grace we have been able to stay in business by doing a little bit of everything from focusing on natural health products and African Fashions, servicing personal care homes and foster homes, to offering notary, copy, and faxing services. We are truly invested in building meaningful relationships with our customers that have become family. We lovingly refer to our “Day 1” customers as our shareholders, because they believed in us from the beginning. Their continued support and encouragement have sustained us as we strive to make a lasting, positive impact in our community.

Royal Style Inc stands as a beacon of wellness, culture, and community empowerment offering a variety of services and products ranging from healthcare to African fashion. As a black-women-owned minority business, serving the community for 14+ years, Royal Style is a full-service pharmacy and retail store that is working to position itself as a leader in serving minority populations with accessible, culturally sensitive, and proactive healthcare solutions.
Our mission is to assist individuals in improving their quality of life, with a focus on natural health products and lifestyle modifications. We empower and inspire our community through comprehensive healthcare education and medication services while advocating for health equity. Royal Style envisions a future where every individual has access to affordable, personalized, and culturally responsive care that integrates both traditional wisdom and innovative health solutions.
We provide disease state education classes, dispense prescriptions, provide consultations for natural health products, offer a range of medical supplies, and host quarterly health fairs, where we offer educational classes in addition to health screenings to members of our community with a specific emphasis on tailoring prevention and management programs to minority populations and improving health literacy.
Royal Style is unique because we are deeply rooted in cultural preservation and economic empowerment. We offer a variety of products and services that not only have a positive impact on members of our community but also have a positive impact on small business owners in Africa.
We celebrate African heritage by offering authentic African clothing, crafts, and artwork. Through these offerings, we proudly support women-owned businesses across Africa that specialize in traditional sewing, crafting, and painting. Our customers are able to experience the richness of African culture while gaining knowledge of the history, traditions, and music of diverse African ethnic groups through our cultural events, which feature African dance troupes and music from African artists.
In addition to pharmacy and wellness services, Royal Style provides notary, faxing, printing, and travel services—further reinforcing our role as a trusted and multifaceted community resource.
Brand-wise, we are most proud of the trust we have built, the partnerships we have fostered, and the positive health outcomes we continue to create. At Royal Style, our vision is to cultivate a healthier, more informed, and vibrant community with the physical, social, and mental well-being of our customers at the heart of all we do. What are your plans for the future?
“Write the vision and make it plain,” is the principle that continues to guide our future plans. The original vision for Royal Style included developing a plaza with multiple rental spaces and an event hall designed to serve both community and cultural needs. However, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and rising construction costs required us to pivot and focus on building a single space. While the path has not been easy, the vision has never changed—only the timeline.
Looking ahead, our desire is to build an on-site event center that will serve as a hub for community connection, wellness, and cultural expression. This space would allow us to host large-scale health fairs where medical, dental, and preventative care services can be provided at no cost to individuals in need. It would also enable us to expand our cultural programming by hosting larger African cultural shows that celebrate heritage, educate the community, and showcase the beauty, music, and traditions of Africa.
Beyond physical expansion, we are trusting God for increase—believing for growth that allows Royal Style to operate from a place of overflow. Our goal is to reach a level of sustainability and abundance where we can continuously sow into other businesses, entrepreneurs, and initiatives within the community. We aspire to be a resource, a supporter, and a catalyst for generational impact.
