Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Smith
Hi Sofia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I entered this industry driven by a personal experience: my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and during her three-year battle, I became her primary caregiver. While caring for her, I also worked in a group home for girls, which gave me valuable insight into both healthcare and residential care systems. Through managing my mother’s daily needs and navigating the complexities of healthcare, I gained knowledge and skills that later allowed me to transition into supporting adults with disabilities and the elderly. Starting out was undoubtedly challenging, but I was committed to building a successful path not only for myself but for my family. Today, we have been operating successfully for five years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been anything but smooth, marked by significant challenges along the way. Shortly after launching the business, COVID-19 struck, prompting us to halt new admissions for three months. During this period, I lived on-site with my residents to ensure their safety and continuity of care. While other personal care homes closed, we remained committed to our clients, developing a comprehensive COVID protocol that enabled safe property tours, testing, and placement for new residents. Many of our current clients joined us during this time. Despite facing financial pressures, including a lack of flexibility on lease terms, we persevered through these obstacles with unwavering dedication.
We’ve been impressed with Dalia Precious Memories LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dalia Precious Memories LLC operates a Personal Care Home in Riverdale, Georgia, dedicated to providing room, board, and compassionate care for adults with disabilities and the elderly in a supportive residential setting. Our services include assistance with daily living activities, medication support, medical transportation, social engagement, meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping. A hallmark of our approach is our annual “Adopt-A-Senior” program, a fall campaign encouraging community members to sponsor a senior and help fulfill their holiday wish lists—a tradition that brings joy and connection every year. Our team closely monitors each resident’s health and well-being, promptly coordinating with our nurse and families whenever needed.
What truly sets Dalia Precious Memories apart is our owner-operated model. As the owner, I am personally involved in the day-to-day operations, spending over 100 hours each week on-site to ensure that our clients receive exceptional care and that our facility consistently operates at its highest standard.
Any big plans?
My future plan is to continue to grow, I am interested in opening additional homes as well as an Adult Day Center.
