Hi Soheila, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi my name is Soheila Ramos also known as Suli. I am the owner and founder of Divine Direction Designs a event Styling and Decor company specializing In Birthday Parties, Weddings, Baby showers and much more. We also offer a variety of services including customizable party boxes, cake toppers, Chip bags, Vinyl Signs and much more. Here at DDD we have something to offer for everyone at an affordable price. We know how expensive events can be so we try to work with everyone’s budget to ensure we can make your vision come to life. Everyone deserves to be celebrated and enjoy their special moments that may only happen once in their lifetime. So here we work with our clients to ensure they receive just that without breaking the bank. Our Company and vision started off during a visit to the Dominican Republic in which i was getting ready to start my wedding planning. During my visit there and exploring all my options while still trying to stay within our budget but yet bring my vision to life. I realized that everything i had envisioned, there was a possible chance it will not come to pass due how over priced everything was. That is when an idea sparked up in my mind. I was always a DIY girl and loved to put things together and create things with my hands. The brilliant idea of me to DIY my entire wedding sparked up. I immediately started to do my research and began planning immediately and sooner than i thought I already had centerpieces, Flower bouquets, linens and decor preordered from affordable suppliers everything i needed to make my vision come to life. Nothing was going to stop this bride from having her dream wedding. When i say i customized and DIY absolutely everything i mean everything. Besides paying for the venue, dresses & makeup a sister had it all down packed and it was all within budget. Which was my goal when planning this big & memorable event. When the day of our wedding came i became a wedding coordinator/ planner that morning. From moving center pieces, styling and ensuring the tables and every detail came out as envisioned. It wasn’t until my wedding host that was there also assisting asked me if by any chance i was an event planner. As my response took her for a surprise she immediately began to acknowledge and congratulate my work. Stating that i had a hidden talent that i needed to put into the world. She was so impressed that she shared with everyone in the hotel of my amazing work. She encouraged me to definitely look into becoming an event planning decor stylist since my skills and work was amazing for someone who has never worked in that field before. Later when i knew not only was the host impressed but also my entire family and guests when they walked in to the venue and saw how beautifully everything was set up. They couldn’t believe i had a hidden talent for all these years. Long after that when arriving back home to NYC the word began to spread like hot cakes my wedding pictures roaming the internet from friends and family spreading the word. Soon i began to receive phone calls from friends and family asking me if i can decorate their events. This was just the beginning of how Divine Direction Design all began. What started off as just a small DIY project God turned it into a business and here we are 9 years later still creating beautiful memories for our clients. I have been truly blessed and can’t thank God enough for all the amazing doors he has opened throughout the years. Everything that i am and have become has only been truly through his Grace and his Divine Direction.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Starting off a business without having any guidance or support is truly challenging. When i first started i had no idea what i was doing or how to go about it just that i knew how to put nice things together. From research and alot of confidence i was able to gain some knowledge how to properly quote and create a professional atmosphere for all my clients.

How do you think about luck?
I dont necessarily want to call it luck more like God’s Divine Direction. I wholeheartedly believe that there is a perfect timing for everything. If we look at the genesis of Divine Direction Designs, the initial beginning moment was the wedding host recognizing my talent. Had she not made that comment, I might have dismissed my DIY skills as just a necessity, rather than a viable business idea. That was a critical, fortuitous moment that provided the necessary external validation. Everything after that was literally moving in Faith and through God’s guidance.
