Community Highlights: Meet Sonja Gunter of Senior911; Angel911; Homecare Everywhere; Benevolent Senior Living LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonja Gunter.

Hi Sonja, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Back when I was a teenage mother, my father, Aaron O. Seawood encouraged me to go into the healthcare field. His advice was simple, “If you get into healthcare, you will always have a job”. No truer words were spoken. But what my father didn’t even know was that not only would I always have a job, it spoke to my very purpose; ministry. I became a nurse 23 years ago and worked in various capacities. I worked with babies as young as newborns to seasoned adults as old as 104. I discovered after moving to Atlanta in 2014 that I had a passion for leadership, operations, and dementia education and empowerment. I ended starting my own senior care brand that provides private duty home care, personal care homes, and other senior care related resources.

There is plenty of story weaved in between.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. Entrepreneurship will put you on your knees in serious prayer. Everything from making payroll and making the best business decisions that affect many people. You quickly learn that the pressures of owning a business are definitely more challenging than being an employee. You have to be called to it and then built to withstand it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Senior911; Angel911; Homecare Everywhere; Benevolent Senior Living LLC ?
Senior Care Resource (Care Homes, Private duty home care, respite care)
Dementia Education/Resources
Healthcare Leadership

I am is what sets us apart. “I am” in the biblical understanding and the natural meaning.

I am most proud of creating a brand that has allowed for staff to provide meals for their families and Christmas for their children.

I mainly want readers to know that we owned and operated by not only a nurse, but a real life caregiver who just yesterday, 1/28/2026, lost my father to the complications of Alzheimers. I understand and relate on a level many cannot. This work is personal and I take it seriously.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I am a mentor to those who are coming up in healthcare in general, but especially those that are pursuing nursing careers/degrees. The best way to find a mentor is to do research in your field of interest via IG, Facebook, LinkedIn, even general search and locate the ones that are making moves and heading in the direction that you are wanting to get to.

Networking is very necessary; however, there comes a point that you develop real relationships with a solid few than trying to fill your dance card up with people who are only interested in taking the free coffee/lunch with no real interest in the person/business. You must seek God for discernment, and He will make it very clear who you should be entertaining and who should not be.
