Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Lawes.
Stacy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As an accomplished fashion designer and businesswoman, I, Stacy A. Lawes, bring a diverse skill set and passion for fashion to everything I do. With a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from Miami International University of Art and Design, coupled with over 13 years of experience in the corporate world, I have developed a well-rounded background in various areas of business, including modeling, fashion styling, graphic design, event sponsorship and promotion, and artist management.
I founded Stacy Lawes New York, a cutting-edge fashion house inspired by my talent and passion for fashion. My designs cater to upscale niche markets that seek high-quality, stylish goods, including high-end couture, ready-to-wear collections, handbags and watches for women. Over the past six years, I have showcased my collections in numerous fashion shows across the country, as well as in photo shoots, commercials, and magazines such as VOGUE Italia.
In 2015, my designs were featured as a guest designer on VH-1’s reality show Black Ink Crew S3 E6, which had 6.5 million viewers. The critical acclaim my designs received, worn by Sassy, a main character on the show, was an incredible honor. I am also an award-winning fashion designer and an honorary member of the Inspirational African American Leaders of New York. In 2023 my brand participated in New York Fashion Week.
My new innovative designs for women have helped me create a brand that resonates with my customers’ lifestyles through my tailored and handmade designs. As I continue to grow my career in the esteemed profession of fashion design, I remain committed to creating unique and cutting-edge designs that cater to the needs of young, stylish, and urbane professionals.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
After facing some recent business setbacks, I can confidently say that my journey has been far from easy. However, my unyielding passion for my dream has kept me going through thick and thin. I have persevered through various trials and tribulations in my life, refusing to give up. My clothing line is a testament to my hard work and dedication, as I built it from the ground up with no external assistance. Despite this, I am now seeking guidance and support from a team of experts to help propel my brand to the next level. I believe it’s crucial for my brand’s international success and expansion. With the help of a strong team, I am confident that we can bring my vision to life and achieve the highest level of success for this company.
How do you define success?
Success means never giving up. No matter how many times you have fallen or failed just dust yourself off and get back on track.
